Stumped...

Hey guys, i'm wondering if someone can help me out with a little predicament.
I'm doing this game in AS2 and i decided to change the movement system so i found a tut that is basically what i want (minus the physics) but it's in AS3 and i only know AS2.

i don't want any of the physics stuff, and i already have the code to rotate my character with the left & right keys, my problem is moving him forward.
