You know, the whole, "You look awesome today!" and "You're a great person" kinda thing. Those few words that let people know that you appreciate them or want to let them know there's someone who cares for what they do.

Anyways, a couple days ago I went to my local Dairy Queen (for those who might not know, it's a burger and mainly ice cream place) and for the most part I realized the place was very crowded and a lot of people were minding their own business or trying their best to get out of each other's ways and I was in line with a friend.

In the middle of the mini-chaos that was in the small ice cream establishment, I heard a "I can help who's next over here!" several times that was going unheard by many of the people in front of me. Seeing the opportunity, I walked over to the server and made my order alongside my friends. I could tell she was a tad bit exhasperated and kinda just saw me as another customer to order her around.

And so, when she made the smoothie for my friend, I made a small compliment and her face changed. She seemed almost taken aback that I placed value into what she did for us and her demeanor changed in an instant. Once we got our ice cream, she thanked me and wished me a good afternoon.

It's really kinda strange how a simple token of appreciation for what other people do (or sacrifice) for you can do for a person. So my question for those viewing: What have you done to make someone else's day a little brighter?
