I don't make a song unless i am satisfied with how it sounds. If someone else wants to play it i am happy to have them do it :)

No one cares about my music, so I only listen to it alone.

I like to smoke out my car with my friends while playing my music. I'm proud to make stuff my friends actually enjoy listening to. Sometimes it gets a little awkward, especially when they pull out the stuff I was making back in high school on garage band. But it's still nice to know that people like music that sometimes happens to be mine :p

Even though my music is ambient, I love showing it to sexy girls who get in my car... and they say things like, "aww this music is so sweet" and Im all like LOL LETS HAVE SEX and then we never do and i cry myself to sleep and make another song.

But yeah, i love showing people my tracks. Everyone always has a different and interesting perspective on it.

I haven't yet had my friends be like Hey who wants to listen to Joey's music. I would probably be like "OH SHIT!!!!" I don't mind if like Bryan listens to it since he is a Newgrounder and he's not in the same room as me. : I hope he's not in the same room that would be creepy.

I'm shy about showing my tracks to others because everyone I know seems to be really into this "rock and roll" thing.

I don't really get it.

Isn't it a great feeling though when someone (who doesn't know you made the track) says, "You made this?!"

No, because it means they can tell the difference between your song and any professional song.

It doesn't have to be professional to be good

Haha I love it when that happens.

Then they ask me "how do I make music like this?" and I tell them about FL Studio and tell them about the price and then they go "...oh".

Lol, that is always funny.

But back to the OP, I never feel shy/stressed when people listen to my music. Its always just like, eh, either they like it or they don't you know..

I'm just fine with showing people my music, but it bugs me to death when they start talking or reading something while my song is playing.

When I say "yes" to a question like that no one takes me seriously. I find that funny.

Maybe you don't get a lot of respect for Hands Up then.

When I say "yes" to a question like that they immediately open my fly and get to work because they think the music is so fantastic. All of them. I find that funny.

He means they don't believe him, but I guess we're back on the topic of Hands up.

the thread mood thing says how I feel about showing people my music. so, to be honest, I'm very shy about showing people my music, and only 25% of my friends know that I make music. of that 25% of friends, 50% have only heard a few things, mainly from my earilier days and say no to listening to my new music. 10% of the other 50% of the 25% have heard most of my music can easily identify my style, 30% of the other 50% of the 25% have at least (including that ten percent) heard over 50% of my songs. the other people just listen to it occasionally.

I know, a lot of numbers that don't exactly add up in the end, but whatever. I don't like to have people listen to my music knowing that it's mine because I feel that if they don't like it, then they don't get a huge part of my life, and that makes me feel like a bad friend lol. It really isn't a good feeling. I don't think my music is even good enough for people around where I live to like since I live in america. not many americans like my style :( makes me sad. I wish that I could do something about it, but the truth is that americans listen to what the media tells them to listen to, and have lost control of what they like. I, on the other hand, played alot of DDR and stuff so I got tastes of europop, even when a lot of americans don't like it.

I would like to say that my music is good, but I can't. whenever I hear something I make, I cringe waiting for something bad to happen like people saying things such as "you suck!", "metal forever! your music sucks!" and the likes. I just wish that people around here could like my music... I spend a lot of time on it. and although one of my friends says I make better music then they could ever make, I still don't take that as a compliment as I don't see them as a large figure in my music other then the fact that they like listening to it.

ummm, I really would just like to be un-rejected from people because I make my music :( but I guess that that's something that makes every artist better, right?

lol this is probably the longest post I've made yet 0_0

but in the end, what do I know? I am just a teenager after all.

The best part about that is for us in the know, FL Studio at 200 dollars is a bargain basement deal compared to software like Ableton or Reason, but for the layperson they're like "no way jose" :(

As for me, for a long time I was way super shy about showing people my music, but I've realized that going "btw I make music" and then not showing it to people is a douche move so now I show it off when I talk about it, at least usually, and it tends to end pretty well.

Until I come up to some guy that knows music theory or is majoring in music or some crap like that and they're like GET A BETTER PROGRESSION DAWG and I'm like shuddup -.-'

I'm of the belief that every artist, no matter his/her media (be it musician, physical art in any form, writer, ect) is always his/her own worse critic. I can't think of one piece I've ever written where I've automatically just gone "yes, love it". At least not the piece as a whole. However, if I show it to someone else, usually another musician, I'm told that it's at least pretty good (most of the time). I'm also extremely paranoid about people "just being nice" when it comes to criticizing my work, so that doesn't help.

That said, I really have no problem playing or showing my works to or in front of anyone. I even strive to do so whenever I can, especially if it's someone of note (such as a known composer/musician, ect.)

I feel the same way bro. I am fairly self concious about my music so whenever I do share it with others, it has to be one of my best works. I also don't tend to share my music any more because everybody here besides a few of my friends thinks that Trance is gay. 'IT'S THE SAME SHIT OVER AND OVER'. Technically it is, but I believe that my work deserves a bit more respect than that. Therefore, I am careful on who to share my music to in public.
