I'd like to hear opinions on this. Amsterdam is pretty well known for these coffeeshops, especially for foreigners, and I'm not quite sure I can agree with the ban. Thoughts?
oh man now it's gonna be really hard to find drugs in amsterdam
stupid move, bad for tourism, etc
Tourists are always dissapointed when they go to Amsterdam anyways.
That stuff is overrated - trust me, I'm German. This won't make much of a difference.

I've been to Amsterdam 3 times and I've never been disappointed.
old news bro, I bet there's already a topic as well but I'm not gonna go hunting.
Yeah it sucks but who wants to fly around the world just so you can smoke weed?
I'd rather just smoke it here B)

I lived in Amsterdam for three years and have always been disappointed. It's like Florida for tourists, but for the locals stuff sucks.
When I first went to the Grand Canyon, I was dissapointed. I was expecting to look at a "heavenly glamorious sighting" but when I looked at it, it looked like I was looking at a painting.

The Grand Canyon is just an overly-glorified large pothole

You don't know who you're dealing with buddy...
Anyway, that shit will eventually vanish, just like the prohitition to smoke in pubs.
As far as I know it's not exactly a ban.
What they want to do with coffee shops is make them less accessable for foreigners and outsiders by making memberships mandatory. Or, you have to get some kind of card before you can buy stuff at the coffee shops, get yourself registered etc.
Personally I don't agree with this new idea either, because Hollands soft drugs policy has effectively kept soft drugs out of the criminal circuit, it assures people that they buy quality stuff and not toxic junk and the 'criminal junkie' has basically gone extinct.
Now we're just taking a step backwards and give illegal street dealers a new market.

BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!
I went to Amsterdam for a week about mid april. I feel so lucky now.
This will set Amsterdam back on tourist cash. Drugs and sex and Anne Frank's House are the major attractions.
Every day starts, my eyes open and I reload the program of misery. I open my eyes remember who I am, what I'm like, and I just go "ugh...."

There are some pretty hefty taxes in Amsterdam, mate.
