Do you think this piece is good enough to be featured on the front page?

When I first submitted this, it was with a bunch of my best works. And one of them did get front paged. This also had a couple of things, that needed to be improved. So I think it just got over looked.

I did spend a few more hours on this and made it a bunch better, I think. And I've had a bunch of people say that they thought this was really good.

Now that this piece has been improved, how do I get it noticed by the people who pick art for the front page? Do they only pick new art? What do you think?

Hopefully it's cool that I made this thread. I love the Newgrounds community, and I want to show you all what I've been working so hard on.

Also, I do know that there is a lot about this that needs improvement. But I've spent enough time on this concept I think, and it's time to move on to other ones.

It's not good enough for the front page, but considering what gets on the front page sometimes...

I like the elaborate background, but the central figure needs work. I think her body would look better if it was less blurry, more defined... and her torso is oddly long(and therefore her right arm). Usually the crotch is about three heads down, but on her it's four. She also seems slanted or off balance, since her lower body is more to the left than her upper body. There's something just off about the face, as well. She looks like a fish with her mouth just open and her eyes staring.

Just because it is not good enough for the front page doesn't mean its not good. To get front page, alot of people have to like it (more geared towards newgrounds audience.) Don't let this get you down, and please, keep making art.

OMG What are these people talking about? This is AMAZING! FORGET what those people are blabbing about! Even if it does not make the front page, I think it should be in a museum! :)

your right they don't cater to an audience, they cater to what they believe to be art. I never said there was a set criteria, I am saying that people like you, always pick only what you like.

Um... no... Didn't you hear a thing ToaS said? The Art Mods pick what ever then hell they please. A few pieces that have been front paged hardly even have enough votes to get in to the search engine, much less be considered popular. Its usually after hitting the front page that the pieces get dozens of votes and reviews.

i dunno i guess the picture looks good, im not a whiz on digital art
but like, doesnt it seem kind of,,, uh rude, to complain as to why it didnt get front paged?
i mean so what if it is or isnt it should be the fun of just plain sharing art with friends online hopefully

hahaha, I know they only pick what they like, but they do not search through every entry. They probably catch it if its got a good score, or when it first gets submitted. A lot of people including the mods judge work based on its score, they will score a user based on his BA also. I do not agree with this at all, that is all I am trying to say, it is not judged on its quality, only if they like it or not or it has a decent score. "You don't have a good BA, so your work is shit," that's the type of shit I am talking about.

Your making assumptions that the Mods only care about scores and numbers. If that were true, then I know plenty of shit work that would be front paged due to people constantly up-voting their own work, or sonic fan art that attracted the sonictards.
Its not about the scores, its not about the averages. It is about what tickles their fancy at the time. Look at the Banabadile not exactly a good work. I mean truly, some one thought it was funny, or would make an excellent joke, and FP'd it.
And the same goes for good work. You can paint the next Mona Lisa and get nowhere with it.

You're completely talking out of your ass. What has ever given you the idea that we:

A: Don't look at everything that goes through the portal
B: Only look at things that have a high score/FP things that only have high scores

I, for one, look at pretty much every single piece that goes through the portal. I do this because I like looking at other peoples art, and partly to help catch any abusive reviews. I'm sure that I'm not the only one. It pisses me off a bit that you would assume we cater only to pieces with higher scores, and to even tell people that we do like it's a fact.

Since you don't seem to get it, I'll repeat what the other art mods have already said.

It's really not that hard to look through what goes through the art portal. The traffic is not that high. Out of the art mods that actually moderate the portal, I guarantee that they look through most of what goes through regardless of the score.

I don't get how you think you can say i'm wrong. I'm one of the art moderators. We talk to each other. I know the other art moderators habits and feelings about pieces in the portal. I know that we look at what goes through the portal, and don't give a shit about scores, because we talk to each other. You on the other hand don't know jack shit about how we operate and don't want to admit that you're wrong.

You can keep pretending you're right, but don't go talking about us like we don't do our jobs right until you get some proof.

It's terrible. Most of the stuff you post in this forum is terrible, in fact.

I think you should quit posting your artwork in this forum, since I think you're beyond the help of most users.

Care to post the thread these were in? Taking words out of context is a cheap tactic. Sometimes people need to be told that their work is terrible. We're the pieces this mod was talking about actually terrible? Like I said, I would like to see the context in which these were said.

I also don't see what anything about the art forum has to do with the art portal. You're bringing up something that's completely different from what we were discussing just to try and make mods look bad.
