Fantastic site but poorly maintained as a whole, nothing seems to get updated or done and terrible problems that have been complained about for years still rear their ugly head in, and for some reason don't get fixed. Several pages don't function anymore and there are broken links, even in the wiki.

The flash portal
While the concept of "voting on flash" is good, it may be flawed as it can be abused -- people who hate a flash may communicate with others to create a network that mass-votes flash either zero or five, with the former being widespread before. Tom suggested that it may be removed in the new version of Newgrounds (after the redesign), but it will still be abusable as many accounts can be created and replaced every day. It is yet to be seen whether there's a leak-proof solution for this.

1. The rating system:
A point that is highly discussed lately and with a lot of reasoning behind it, as far as I see it, a rating of 1.6 is way too less to let a flash pass, it should be atleast an average rating of 2, if you watched the portal as actively as I did in the last months, you will come to the same conclusion as me: More and more junk passes because people vote 5 on everything to get stats, which brings me to my second point.

2.Stolen flashes and whistle system
I don´t know if you watch for stolen flashes as I do, but I can tell you a few things from my personal experience: More than half of the flashes that I blow my whistle on still keep passing through the portal, which can only have few reasons:
a, Not enough people recognise stolen flashes or do blow their whistle on them;
b, people recognise stolen flashes and still vote 5 because they know that the flash will still pass
or c, The whistle system is flawed.
I personally think it´s actually a combination of all 3 cases, I mean, if you look, I have a silver whistle and don´t expect to have too much influence, but if a lot of people with higher-level whistles are using them on a flash and it still doesn´t get deleted, then we have a huge problem here, because it will downright demotivate people to look for these stolen flashes if their effort is not appreciated at all and this leads to more stolen flashes on Newgrounds, something that no one really wants.
So, what can be done about it? I can imagine only two things, either reworking the whistle system to make it more efficient or the second solution: nomination of portal mods( if they already have some, then more of them) who are responsible to read the Pm´s about stolen flashes, Wade Fulp can´t handle them all alone, and every other mod only responds at the moment by saying "send a message to Wade".

If you want to participate more in looking for stolen flashes or want to make sure that a flash is stolen, then I can recommend you two groups, the Newgrounds Police Dept. and the Elite Guard Barracks, they are very friendly and respond to your questions about stolen flashes and are, as far as I see it, in need of new passionate members who want to contribute in a good way to Newgrounds, so if you meet their requirements, please consider in either joining them or posting in their threads( only in one of them is enough) if you find a stolen flash, you will surely not deny it!

3.Quality of the Forum
Actually a point where I can finally say something positive, some people complain that there aren´t intellectual discussions anymore and that the forums "sucks" in comparison to last years. Fairly, I can´t talk about the past much, but have to say that we have indeed a lot of good topics everyday( you maybe recognised that I post more often lately, I apologise at this point, if my points are not always clear, english is not my native language and some things are hard to tell in an other language), there are surely topics that have not much thought put in them, but the general quality is way better than some present it, also because the forums are well moderated.
I also want to say that the userbase on Newgrounds is very friendly, something that can´t be said in such a strong extent about other forums, so I want to thank each and everyone of you who make the experience on Newgrounds so much better!

There may be a better way to put it, I guess what im getting at is Newgrounds, like any other site has made it's share of stupid decisions, but unlike any other site Newgrounds refuses to fix these problems, no matter how much people complain and save any major fixes for the end-all-be-all holy messiah known as the NG redesign.

I understand what you mean, and this can be very easily fixed without changing the system as a whole in ONE way, at least how I see it. Just give blam and protection points, JUST for voting on a submission. That way, if you vote on a purple submission you still get points, it's really a better way, people will be less encouraged to spam "5," seeing as now they don't have to to level up.

Newgrounds is a great website because it has a fantastic collection of games and flashes to choose from. The best part is that there are so many things there, it's nearly impossible to find something you do not like. There are people all around the world who contribute ideas and express themselves in their works. The art and audio portals are also a great touch. I recommend this website because of the amazing amount of variety. Unlike YouTube, you don't have to worry as much about copyright problems.
