I don't think Japanese eat dogs or cats, but some countryside Chinese eat dogs. Korea is more notorious for eating dogs, but most Koreans or their relatives I know would never eat a puppy.

All kinds of Asian countries have people who eat cats and dogs. Japan is more of an exception though. But the consumption of dogs is more heavily in rural Korea. It's not really a bad thing, but I understand why one may think it's wrong. If the dog naturally dies, what's wrong with eating it?
