alright, i will take that back. dividing by zero is undefined. consider the graph f(x)=1/x

if you approaches from the left hand side, you get minus infinity. if you approaches from the right you get plus infinity. it is certainly not continous at x=0, so yes, it is undefined.

It is impossible, because my math teacher said so.

If you feel like a calculator, the result would be 'undefined'.

There's a mathematical proof of why you can't divide by zero, I'm giving you a simplified example showing you the reasong:
12 divided by 6 is 2 because
6 times 2 is 12

12 divided by 0 is x would mean that
0 times x = 12

Here, that's the fucking reason. Really, no joke, that's the reason you can't divide by zero, now stop asking.

Thanks for repeating my post eh

Sorry Grundling, I really didn't mean to do that, I missed the page. All credits may go to you.

It's because the physical act of dividing nothing by nothing cannot be expressed except hypothetically and even then we have no way to guess what would occur or if it was even possible so it is concluded that it is impossible

Simple mathematical proof:

The concept that explains division in algebra is that it is the inverse of multiplication. For example,

6 / 3 = 2 2 * 3 = 6

since 2 is the value for which the unknown quantity in

?? * 3 = 6

is true. But the expression

6 / 0 = ??

requires a value to be found for the unknown quantity in

?? * 0 = 6

But any number multiplied by 0 is 0 and so there is no number that solves the equation.

So basically, what number do you multiply zero by to get to 6? Absolutely nothing can do that, hence why you can't divide by zero. If you don't understand the above, then don't worry your little mind about it. ;)
