New flash movie...?

Most of you (or all of you) probably don't know who I am. But I am an amateur, 13 year old cartoonist, who has recently discovered the flash 8 animation software. I am currently working on a short film called I Haven't Got Time For This, which is about a guy who is late for work, and in order to not get fired, steals a time machine to get to work on time. As a result, many paradoxes and crazy stuff occur. Anyway, does anyone have any tips for a young animator like me?

Just remember if you have any questions to ask in this forum and we'll do our best to help you (just be patient)

Some tips (I don't know if your a newbie or a pro so some of this stuff you might already know)

USE tablets

try to not use too many Movie clips as they lag your animation and add memory to your file.

Try to make non-interactive backgrounds in photoshop and then export them into flash (saves memory)

Three more things that might help you.

Always add .97 to your frame rates. Like instead of 24 fps, use 23.97 fps. Because flash tends to mess with the sounds and they play at the wrong times.. And this issue get worse when the flash gets longer.

Graphics can do anything movie clips can do, except effects. Just look in the properties for a graphics symbol. You'll see settings like "Play once" and "Loop". Plus you can scroll on the timeline and see the animation, which you can't do with movie clips.

And, don't do complicated backgrounds with flash. Since flash is vector based. Having a complicated background made in flash increases file size dramatically. Use another program for that. Like GIMP, Paint Tool Sai (my favorite), or Photoshop.

Other than that. Just check tutorials. You're bound to find something that will help you.

I'm only responding because I care, so please don't take this wrong:

You seem to have lots of ambition, and a cute story to make a flash about, but have you storyboarded? Written a script? Prepared voice actors, developed scenes, produced animatics? Did you even consider doing these things? Hell, my flash looks like shit, but each one has a plot designed, resources gathered before it even begins, which is why they manage to maintain a solid plot. (Lol wat plot)

The only way I can see this going from the information provided is just how it went when I was in your position a few years ago. Lots of ambition, no drive.

Also, the notes about fps and movie clips are mostly bunk; if you adjust the audio settings before publishing you can sync properly at a solid 24fps, and movie clips will slow down your computer only if you are throwing in all sorts of filters and shit. Then again I can't be too much a judge; I've got a core i5 processor to handle the grunt work now and shit that's the fastest thing i've dealt with ever.

Alright people, here is a completed rough version of my movie. Very rough. It doesn't have any sound, and I know it kind of sucks, but the real thing will have voice actors, better art, music, the lot. I'd like to know what people think of the script. Here's the link:

I understand about the graphics and animation, but I feel that the plot could have a little more than a 3. But like I say, it's very rough, and only took me 2 days to make.
