Howdy!

I recently (like about an hour ago recently) just had a art piece deleted form my account for unknown reasons. It followed all the rules! It didn't have anything offensive, didn't have any nudity, gore, blood, tits, dicks, or the like. I got a message from the trusty little M-Bot but wasn't sure if I should respond to him back directly (not too sure if its just an automated thing or if someones actually behind its madness) or if there was someone else I can contact to see why it was taken down. I tried uploading the image again, but it wouldn't let me, and not wanting to get into more trouble I stopped at one attempt.

I think I can include it in here for all to view. Maybe you guys might have an idea of why it was deleted? Or at least where to go to get it back up!

Because it's a photo, and not really your original work.

But it isnt a photo, neither is it a photo manipulated piece. It's a digital painting I worked really hard on. :D
But I can see why that can be miss categorized. . .
If you check out my other work you can see that I tend to draw in a lot of detail when it comes to my pieces, but they are all in fact paintings.

Hmmm. . . Sounds fair enough!
So does that mean I can't upload it again? :O
(either way is fine with me, I suppose, but I'd be cool to have my entire Lost series intact)

I'm sure your work is painting since I can see brushstrokes (very tiny). Great work, I couldn't paint human that real.

i think its more that your work looks a bit either traced or filtered, or a bit of both, example
this = this
this = this

Thanks Computer112! Means a lot! And it did take quite a lot of zooming in and out to get the desired brush strokes But we all know how that goes. . . Am I right ladies??? ;D (ignore my idiotic humor)

I'm still wondering if there is anyone I should contact to get this piece back up in my gallery?

I confirm my statement. I had a powerful program that literally calculate the 'mutations' of smudged, filtered, blurred photos. 93.41% accuracy.

Np dude.

But seriously can't trust anything nowadays. You could get a photo and throw in 15 min working with PS/Corel Painter to get a Van Gogh-like painting.

Pretty accurate for not being traced... 93.41, was it?

Even with my own eyes I can tell it's a fucking photo. Old 4chan tricks. Poorly Photoshoped?

It's on SourceForge, on the most used program list. Works with Ubuntu and ArchLinux. 93.41% claim isn't from me.

People are accusing you of either using photomanipulation, or simply tracing photos to make your art, because of the fact that they are nearly identical to photos found on the internet, beyond what one would usually attribute to simple referencing.

Thank you!
But it wasn't an over night thing :/
You gotta be able to sacrifice a shit ton. Time, friends, family, world premieres of awesome movies! >:O It's a long time of sitting here painting/repainting/painting and repainting to get everything just right. And a lot of my work can show you my progress as a whole. From my early paintings to these newest ones, you can see me learning what to do and what not to do. SHIT! I remember taking almost half a year on one single painting. But we live and learn. And that's how we become the greatest in the world! Most of these paintings, even my Lost series thats being used here as examples, are my ways of practicing. I find something I love and try to paint it for my own personal gain. And once one is done, I find ANOTHER similar subject and repeat the process.

I mean Ash Ketchum isn't going to be the Pokemon master by just staying at home playing video games (although Pokemon is a video game. . . )! He got off his ass and devoted his life to finding, capturing and enslaving wild animals to perform legal cock fights for badges he could have made with a machine he could have bought at a thrift store!

All in all, if some think I'm not doing this legitimately that's OK. And I take your criticism kindly. But I know what I had to do to get to where my skill level is today. And I still have A LOT still to learn and A LOT of areas I need improving in, but I'm not going to get any better by complaining about other peoples artwork. I'll just sit down, shut the world out for a week, and won't leave until I'm satisfied.

Thank ya all for replying to this here post! :D
Much love! *pounds chest with fist*
And if ya still think I'm just bullshitting, well the hell with ya! Ha-ha! (Jay-kiz-ay [thats rap for jk])

now im normaly one who jumps up and down and stamp on art theifs... but i dont think these are just photoshopped images... there is a consistancy within his work which normal theifs do not maintain... not only that but the images are slightly different... i do however feel the the images have be grid referenced / traced or mapped out in some way to maintain that level of accurcy... tineye is throwing up blanks with the mono toned work... that that shows some skill... i think its just the photo relistic ones which people are having problems with seen as they are basicly spot on dimention wise...

Oh, I most CERTAINLY use grids! Really small ones to boot. I still haven't gotten comfortable enough with my skill level yet to paint without them :/ But I'm hoping in the near future I wont need them anymore. And that's something I'm willing to work on. Grids are dope, but I wanna be able to say I get the same effect without them too. That'd be pretty sweet.
I have tried it once without grids, but it wasn't near post worthy.

23 posts in, and NOW you think it's worth mentioning that you used grids?
You should have said that in one of the first few posts, rather than stringing people along.

I really hope Lego didn't put the idea in your mind.

I can see why people think it's traced, but it's good practise to mention that you used a grid and a reference photo.

I'm going to investigate this further.

working with grids can help with redrawing stuff, but it doesn't really help you get better since you arent looking at the big picture. It's more technique than skill.
I suggest you navigate away from using grids, but take progressively larger grids rather than just stopping cold turkey.

Ha-ha! That's a pretty good observation! But I wasn't really trying to string anyone along since I was more trying to find an answer the main topic of the post. I didn't really care one way or the other if people thought I photo-manipulate, traced, or filtered the images. That's like whatevz, ya know? I know what I do to make my work, and its nether of those things. :D

@J-qb: I totally agree with ya! More technique than anything. I've never used grids before until I started painting faces and wanted to get them as accurate to the shape as possible. And I still only use them for those purposes. But when it comes to shutting it out completely that's probably the best way , for me, to learn. I don't think I'd personally suggest that way to others though. But I'm more of a "Either I do it or I don't" kinda guy. I respect your input though! Much appreciated.

Bear in mind that one of those people who thought that you did photo-manipulate, trace, or filter a picture was a moderator, and decided to remove the picture from the portal.

And on an added note:
I color pick to make my color palette straight from the reference photo. But I only limit myself from between 5-7 direct colors. The rest are mixed during the painting. *Besides the backgrounds which I willy-nilly color pick and just make crazy squigglez 'till I think it looks cool enough*

Hope that answers any other questions!

See! Now THAT makes sense! I was just under the assumtion that they thought it was a photo. So if one of them thought I did that that means I can no longer upload the image again? And are all my works going to be taken down as well? Cause that'd suck. Is there a way to contact a moderator and chit-chat it up? I'm new to this place and I'm still not sure who's a moderator and who isn't. I haven't really gone exploring much around the site, unless its to check out other peoples work and to watch some Egoraptor or Cyanide and Happiness stuff.
