DON'T go to college for animation, graphic design or any of this artsy stuff. It's pointless. The fact is, all these fields are highly competitive and so you have to be best of the best to even hope of landing a good job.
My advice is, get a real education. Like engineering, doctoros, lawyer and all that crap you think parent's feed you. Become a Doctor. Great pay and respectable job. That's worth way more than being a starving artist.
And don't give me the bullshit, im going to do what i love and it's not about the money. You can't do shit in this world without money, unless you want to be stuck living with your parent's for the rest of your life.

I'm not going to do something I can't stand just for money. I'd rather be homeless.

A lot of people would prefer a job that they love with just enough money to live on than to do a job they hate and have more money than they need.

It's not easy to become a doctor and not everyone can do it. Most other jobs require long tedious hours with little job security. The point is life has it's sucky parts and there's no correct way to do it.

I kinda agree with OP, There's lots of well paid jobs in anything.
I think he means why not take education to a higher level.
Example:
Electronic Engineer, better paid then electrician - Not the same jobs, but similar interests
Want to increase knowledge in programming. If you need someone to program something, I will be happy to help for free :) .

A real education is working at a bar for 6 months then working as a taxi driver for 6 months. You learn a hell of a lot.

Fuck that. I'd rather do something I enjoy than go through years of tedious work that I'm not interested in so I can hopefully get a job doing work that I'm not interested in.
Imma live on NG ad earnings.

You act as if those jobs are highly competitive either? There are too many people in the world for jobs not to competitive, a job at Mcdonalds, especially lately, is just as competitive as a job as an animator.

Then one should aim to be the best or one of the best.
And I'd like you to substantiate your assertion here, please.
My advice is, get a real education.
How is aiming to get a less competitive job considered to be a "real education"?
Like engineering, doctoros, lawyer and all that crap you think parent's feed you. Become a Doctor. Great pay and respectable job. That's worth way more than being a starving artist.
Artists get paid a lot depending on what they specialize in.

Don't do what you love. Don't just go for where the money is at either. Do what your good at and make an effort to get better at it. There is a career path for literally ANY job if enough effort is put into being good at it.
Be awesome working the cash register for McDonalds consistantly ===> Manager at McDonalds one day
Also, who the hell told you that getting a job as a doctor or lawyer was not competitive? There's hella competition just to get INTO THE SCHOOLS! You have to go head to head with thousands of other people just to be allowed to pay a hefty tuition to obtain the qualification to receive training for these supposedly lucrative jobs, which require you to spend a good portion of your pay on malpractice or insurance of some kind for any minor fuck up they might be responsible for.
Also, a lawyers entire JOB is to compete against their clients enemies, they're like mercenaries!
Some of the brokest motherfuckers I know are starving college graduates with math majors. The highest paid person I know dropped out of high school and knocks on doors for a living. She gets paid based on pure commission, but she makes about $40-50k a year because she's good at what she does, and consistently gets better at it.
So basically yeah, if you are gonna try to get a degree in some artsy thing because your in it for the money, don't do it. Also don't do it just to fulfill a dream, but if you are good at something, that means that it is the place that you are fit to compete, and it is the path you and your wallet would do well to follow.

World still needs Janitors, that's where all you folks with no education comes in.
I'm not saying you should avoid Art career. I'm saying 99% of you will NEVER make it through. I know from experience. I have seen your kind of people in college. I can tell you right now, they are either unemployed living with their parents or doing odd jobs while paying for student loans. The very few that did get job is only LOCAL studios, where the pay is no better than working at Mcdonalds.
So go ahead, do what you love. But wouldn't you rather make millions with a job you hate and then chill out on a beach somewhere and do what you love?
Engineering and becoming a Doctor are HIGHLY competitive. But they are RESPECTABLE and MONEY MAKING jobs. If I could go back, I'd do that as living and do art/animation as a hobby.
The only non-educated people that make money are that ones that started their own business. And you are NOT that person. You're all still young and so you won't understand yet.
So don't take out loans to go to college for media and design major. Get more useful education. Media, design, art, animation, all this could be learned online.

I hate people so why the hell do you think I want to be a doctor and help people? I'll just end up like the rest of my family anyways, working at some shit job making minimum wage and living like a peasant.
