Haha my thoughts too. Years and years back I requested a 1 year ban, no one would do it. So I'm surprised to see they will delete an account when requested. Last I remember of account deletions it was said just to leave your account alone if you don't want it, that it's not necessary to delete. Especially back in the day when you could change your account name at will.
So I'm pretty confused here, when did they begin doing this?

Yes. You, didn't know?
Still though only an admin can do it, so you need to be worthy enough for their time.

Yes. Pretty much anyone who has contributed significantly to the site can have that honor.
New users and abandoned accounts will just get ignored.
You and me would probably qualify.
I never got to know Scarab as a friend, but I have encountered several of his posts on many occasions.

I was surprised by that too.

A number of people who leave do get remembered, if you pay attention. People get remembered if they make names for themselves, like Scarab did. If anything, the stickam crowd will remember him. Plus, he did win Best Poster enough times to be disqualified.

That's good to hear. The last time I talked with him, it seemed as though he had given up, so it's good to know that he's being proactive about his issues.
He was a good user when not intoxicated, so hopefully newgrounds history will repeat itself and he'll be back on another account.

Hope he gets the help he needs. Life is precious and it only comes around once.
Having said that, it still doesn't give you a free pass. Your real life is precious and sacred, but your Newgrounds.com life is subject to abuse and mockery once you've let go of it!

I need to get updated more...
He was one of the few users that spent time on everything he posted and usually posted with interesting, intelligent topics of responses although he was open to other contributions and had a sense of humour too. From whenever I saw him post, he was usually polite and a nice enough guy to get along with - he also had an interest in films, which is always good in my books. It's a shame that he's requested for his account to be deleted, but if he thinks that it'll help him sort out his life, then I wish him all the best of luck.

Here's my take on it all.
He was a good guy, there's no doubt about it, and he still is... It's not like he is dead or anything (as far as we know). I'm almost positive that he is in contact with a few people from here still. Newgrounds was a big part of his life, and I'm sure still is. He did decide to make another account last night or whenever and explain his deletion, and pour his heart out a little. He was clearly drunk while doing that, as always. It was late night posting, if he's posting late night he is drunk.
It was honestly not terrible having him around, the bottom line is that the guy needed help and obviously you can't get help from posting about your issues on a forum, people in the community here tried time and time again to help him, going lengths like phoning the school he is educated at, and nearby hospitals, etc.
They listened to those who tried helping and even after HE requested we contact those people, he continued to carry on the way he always did. The only person who can help him, is himself.
It's sad to see it, but it's just the way it is sometimes. I'm just glad that he is still alive and I hope that he can find peace in his life eventually.
That's about it.
Yeah, whatever.

When I searched the Internet Archive for Scarab's posts, I got this message:
"Page cannot be crawled or displayed due to robots.txt."
I can see how this would work for a would-be politician who didn't want to be exposed as a NG user.

What the hell are you talking about?
Me and Scarab talked quite a few times, he came to ME for help a few times. I GOT him help from contacting the right people on here, and what did he do after WE got him help? Nothing. He did the exact same thing, drank until he couldn't, logged on to NG, and bitched and bitched.
If you think I am trying to increase my credibility by explaining my take on it, from what I know of Scarab from HIMSELF and other users, that's your deal buddy. It doesn't matter to me, while many other users are saying what they think about the whole thing, I do the same thing and get picked out of the crowd of them. Which isn't necessarily surprising, considering everything.
I'm just saying what I know, because that's what happened.
Yeah, whatever.

Because behind every user is a real life person.
And some of us have even met the person.
I never met Scarab though, but maybe someday in the UK.

Maybe you should take your uninformed opinion and take it elsewhere. You have absolutely no clue to the lengths that members of this community went to in order to help him and EpicFail played a major role in that.

Maybe he will come back one day. I didn't mind sober Scarab and he was a pretty cool guy. But drunk Scarab was pretty annoying and toward the end there he seemed like he was drunk Scarab on here most of the time.
I hope he has a good life and quits the booze 100%.

You actually can request for your account to be deleted.
Just to point out, this is obviously a special occation, and you'll need special reasons to get deleted. The best way if you just can't stay away is to simply switch your password to random gibberish, write the password on a piece of paper, eat it up, shit it out, eat it up again, throw it up and make a finger painting with the puke/shit/paper.
Problem solved, and no admins had to waste time reading your plea and taking precious time from working on the site to delete you.
Everybody wins!

I feel this pain whenever a user leaves, or almost leaves. I feel like a part of Newgrounds has left, and Newgrounds is such a huge part of my life.

Poor guy. I remember seeing his thread on deletion.
Hope he overcomes his problem.
God speed, Scarab.
