4.09 / 5.00 12,195 ViewsI'm making a new beat em up game to be called Amazon Space Marines. I've used a lot of different styles for sprites; big ones, small ones, tiny little shitty ones, and every game gets a different brand of reviews, but no one ever says what they think of the sprites.
This style here is easy enough for me to make and animate, but I'd like to know how it looks to you guys.
For the game, the sprites and backgrounds will be drawn for a 320x240 screen and then scaled up to 640x480 for the real thing for visibility. (same as RPGM2k3) The current background is provisional, just to get a sense of the mood, and the slimes are from a previous game. Key content are the two ladies in the middle.
better then ff1 only it could be cleaner worse then sonic2 but thats ok if its just a sprite

So you wouldn't run away screaming if you saw this in the Flash Portal?
Also I now notice the image got a little warped from being too big when I uploaded it, so here's a close up shot:
not bad the cave could use more detail and the slimes i dont like :c u should make the slimes like dragon quest slimes
I like it, as you asked, If I saw it in the portal I would love it. Game looks interesting. I look forward to it.
If I saw it in the portal I wouldn't hate it, but I would like to offer a few tips. Like someone had mentioned earlier, I would add more detail to the cave. There's really no distinction between a foreground and a background it seems too much like a generic flat image to me.
As far as the actual character sprites go, they're pretty decent, but it's hard to make out any clear details on the characters. Try using some thin shading to emphasize details and try to make each individual sprite pop more.
