I have recently submitted some works of art to the Portal that I have created over the years. I would love it if you guys could view my works, and tell me what you think. :]
Thanks everyone.
What shall we use to fill the empty spaces?
It's been two years since you created this thread, and all you have to show for yourself is two more drawings?
Still needs a lot of improvement.... on everything.

um... no their not..
You'll need to come up with a lot of better stuff to impress people.
For starters, try scanning a drawing you made by hand.
A rather disgusting-looking git that should have been disposed of ages ago.
Not much effort was put into any of those, I would say that we'd be able to accurately critique your work if you expressed your abilities to their full extent :3
..
How can you tell that there is not passion in any of those? Are you saying its unoriginal?

I dont understand how a crappy drawing by hand is better than a sleek, animated, and digital design. :/ Whose standards must I live by to get an honest opinion? I thought I was a free man in the art community.

I can accept this. Alright, I guess Ill think them over again.

Doing digitally created stick people comics are not very original nor are they a decent way to gauge your skills.
We want traditional media art because it's easier to understand your level of skill and critic you.
If you want me to critique what you have; don't draw stick people, strengthen your understanding of fundamentals and after you've got a decent understanding on the human form create your own style based on things you like and things that work for you, then learn how to create panelling for comics that aren't boring, look at actual comics and see how the panels can form dynamics and guide the eye through a page.

Well you guys have to admit that this one is kind of funny/original :

not really... actually, its kind of against the rules

Photoshops like that aren't made fro original work, and thus are against the portal rules, and kind of deeply frowned upon around here. Especially if they have little effort placed in to them
why is it frowned upon? all of those are my pictures i personally took, so therefore are original unto me. I do not understand how this is frowned upon if it has taken me a good amount of time to complete, and assemble though my own insight. This is art, and should be considered as such.

Well, I can see this getting out of hand pretty quick.
Man, I really don't make the rules. But the mods haven't allowed photoshops in before, and even if they did, it would have to be extremely exceptionable.
This isn't about what is art and what isn't art. it's just site policies. IF you think it deserves to be in, then feel free to argue to your hearts content, but keep in mind, Websites are a dictatorship, not a democracy, so don't be offended if your pleas fall to deaf ears.
As for the actual piece. It's not that great. It is a one shot gag, that never really touches base.
The actual editing isn't that great, their is no real focus to the piece. Its just plain bad.
If that is truly the best you can do, then find some tutorials and practice.
I'll even help out a little
well ive never really watched tutorials i kind of taught myself. I think its great considering that. Better than a five year old could do.

You really should. You lack pretty much all the basics and principles. So a little study couldn't hurt.
Better than a five year old could do.
Not exactly aiming high, are we? But assuming a 5 year old could actually use a computer well, I bet he would do better than that.

And no matter how much you protest that you're amazing, you really aren't. If you're saying that you're good for a person that doesn't watch tutorials (you're not), why not watch some tutorials? Don't aim your sights low, that's not what art is about. And if you do shoot for the bottom of the barrel don't expect other people to praise you for anything you do.

Excellent! I am so glad to hear people cant just photograph crap and put it on here, but you see it is no longer a photograph once i put the shell on a cat. It is an illustration of a character, created from photographs, but an illustration none the less. Perhaps a flash animator, or professional artist would see my cat on here as a living and breathing entity. This makes it more than photographs. Mabe they would provide even more life to my art, and make everyone open their minds to something they catch about my cat when it was as it is now. Just an illustration. This is no photograph, this is an illustration ,this is art.

Well guys this was a fun conversation while it lasted. But We have obviously been shown a genius that we lack capacity to understand. Even with our collective achievements we must recoil in awe that the godly images that grace our eyes.
Go forth my friends, and spread word that the new king of Artist has come. We will be his apostles spreading the grand gospel of our new human god....
Hey I figure if we are going to start bullshitting one another here, might as well start with a bang...

Its just the way things are...
The rules are placed in to play by powers beyond us, the Administrators. It is their domain, their site, their rules. And because they are the gods of the domain, they can have any rules they want, for what ever reason they wish.
That is the way it is. It is pointless to ask why. They chose things to be this way for reasons that are their own, and they don't have to share those secrets for any reason. They could change all our Icons to Pretty pink ponies if they chose to, and we either have to accept it, or just leave. That choice, at least, is ours alone to make.
If you want your bad photo manuips accepted, then their are dozens of others sites that will welcome you with more open arms.
What is with this blatant rudeness? What have done, but ripple the water a little in your otherwise peaceful existence. If you cant handle a proposition that could be valid, or invalid than why do you impose your snide remarks that have nothing to do with anything, but to convey your idiocy.
