Fucking sick of this nonsense about "NOT A VALID MP3". I cannot upload anything. I literally have a 1/10 chance of success. It seriously cannot be that fucking hard to fix this for the amount of time this has been going on. How about stop bitching about how people are blocking the ads (I do not) and start fixing the site.

Quit whining. Everybody has this problem. just keep trying again until you get it right. The bug will most likely be fixed at the redesign.

No edit button: I am also having tons of problems with the site's server. Every once in a while when I go to go on another page it dies immediately and says "No connection to the server". Or when I go to submit anything it loads for about a minute and then finally pops up and says "We currently cannot connect to the server try again in a few minutes" or something like that.

Making a whiny thread isn't going to solve anything.
If you really think there's something wrong with the website and not your set up then PM an admin leaving precise descriptions about your problem.

I used to have that problem to, but it doesn't seem to happen when browsing NG using FireFox.

I've spoken to liljim about it and he replied (he's going to check it out) so at least you know that they know about the problem.

IF YOUR HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE MP3 UPLOADER... DO THE FOLLOWING.
Step 1: DOWNLOAD GOOGLE CHROME
Step 2: UPLOAD YOUR AUDIO
Step 3: LOOK AT THE PROGRESS BAR AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR WEBPAGE WINDOW
This is the easiest way of telling if your audio is uploading properly, as google chrome gives a percentage.
If this doesnt work, then dont upload here. Go to bandcamp, or youtube, or something. Dont come crying to us, we cant do anything about it.

That doesn't stop the "invalid mp3" error from spawning.

Usually does for me. Either its a browser problem, or its the NG system, or possible a combination of both... but google chrome is your best bet in my opinion.

I use FireFox 5, the latest and I uploaded my first submission several days ago and got approved recently. The upload was without any problem, no error messages. The only problem I noticed is that if the upload takes too long, due to my slow connection or high traffic, the upload just stops. So, I had to upload a version of lower quality / size.

Look, if everyone that has this problem would send liljim a PM, I think he's soon enough notice there's a lot of trouble with uploading MP3's and he can look into it.
We as audio forum members CANNOT do anything about it.

Look at it this way: i just submitted a song and it woked on first attempt - can you imagine the joy I felt? Almost like an orgasm!
We should keep this thread as a "release you anger about not being able to submit an mp3 thread" i know it feels good to go somewhere to drop some f-bombs after you 26th try. just don't make it personal and don't accuse anyone :D

I just had that problem. I changed the export setting to 16-bit (it was at 32-bit) and it worked.
What I always set my settings to:
-16-bit
-128 (sometimes 160) kbps
-Export as mp3
-ID3v1 (if exporting with Audacity)
I always export from FL Studio and then re-export it through Audacity because the AP never seems to accept my FL exported files.

i THINK he's talking about bitrate, whilst i THINK SBB was refering to the fact that you cant upload an audio file of 32bit(depth) to NG. either way, you can have the bitRATE of mp3's way under 32kbps.

Woops. Thought the bit depth did go to 64. I was mistaken. 64 bitrate, hahahahaha. Like the quality from a talking doll.

Well, with proper programs that you can search online for (I would locate you to a site to download one that can easily fix the bit-rate, MP3 encoding, and all that jazz, however I am not sure what it was anymore), I don't think you would have a problem.
Otherwise, you should know moderators to notify of the conflict you're having, instead of venting it off and accomplishing nothing, although there are some things that were pretty interesting if I do say so maself.

I'm quite sure I saw a post/blogpost explaining why the problem was occuring....Guess I should have bookmarked it.....whoopslololol. I'll link it if I find it in my site history.
that might have been regarding the art portal....Lack of sleep messes with your head after ~40ish hours.
or I might just be so fucking tired that i'm talking nonsense!
The redesign has been the longest running and most successfull april fools joke for years.

Might have something to do with your internet connection. It happened to me once when I was seeding a torrent. As soon as I closed utorrent, the error stopped popping up.
EP2 out now! Download it for free :).

I actually got this problem just about 10mins ago. I find that saving from some apps makes newgrounds uploader hate you. However, i find that importing to Goldwave, and saving out again always works.
So if youre having a problem, go get goldwave and the lame.dll codec for mp3 and put that in the goldwave folder. It's a free dll so you should be able to find it, if not give me a shout. Goldwave also has a huge trial period. So check it out, it may help you solve the problem once and for all.

Really. So how long exactly has this been going on? The first I heard about it was yesterday, when SBB contacted me. If you're so sick of this kind of thing happening, then I'll counter that by saying I'm sick of people aimlessly posting about problems in the forums in a misguided attempt to bring light to those problems, rather than using the brains they were born with and CONTACTING ONE OF THE PROGRAMMERS ABOUT IT, as SBB rightly did.
I've used this analogy before, but you wouldn't expect a Doctor to go looking for patients, they go to him/her. If you have an issue with something, you should contact the relevant person. It's that simple.
Of course, it is also necessary to explain your "symptoms" - when it comes to things like this, you should describe your OS, Browser, version info for both, anything else that might be interfering with your browser like ad blocker or anti-virus software, the files you're trying to upload, etcetera. In this case, it's not necessary, as I think it's all server-side related (i.e. nothing to do with your browser, file, or anything else to do with you).
It bewilders me why people think we have time to scroll through every single thread in the forums to look for problems that might exist AND work on the site at the same time.
As for your concern about an edit button, do your own research on why that's not going to happen. I've wasted enough of my time explaining it already.
Anyway, in the meantime, keep any status updates in your original thread. Had I known about this when you first posted that thread, I might have been able to do something about it sooner.
Good evening.
