How would you cope? I say this in all seriousness because it's vital that you are aware of how to survivve without civilization if for some reason everything around you is rendered powerless and all the generators run out. Do you know how to make fire? Are you completely dependant on technology that you can't do things without it?

Do you think you could operate a weapon when food shortages begin to turn people to desperation? I'm not talking an apocalype here, I'm just talking about say.. the entire power grid being wiped out by an electromagnetic pulse for instance.

I'm curious to see your well thought out responses - all inb4, hateful, and stupid responses will be ignored.

I know how to make a fire....you just need some firewood(Or any kind of wood but firewood is the best) and two pieces of rock. You rub them together with enough friction until sparks fly out and drop onto the firewood, thus setting them on fire.

As for surviving in the world without electricity...well, I think I can safely say that without looking at and studying a survival guide written by a reputable expert, I'm pretty much screwed.

i could survive without electricity.i wouldn't like it at all,but i can. and i know how to use both close combat weapons and firearms to a decent amount. i can handle myself in no-weapons combat against the average person as well.i can run a good amount of time, and i cant do shit for survival tactics, like making a fire and finding food and shit.probably would travel in a small group of 3 or 4.

I got really annoyed when our lights were out for one night, so I know I would really find it difficult. But I think over time, I would just get used living that way and would hopefully learn to push the angst to the back of my mind.

I think i would be okay, it would be hard but i know how to make fire, and how to shoot a shotgun. And have a good amount of basic survival skills.

If electricity didn't exist flashlights could never have been made.

I would cope well survival wise, I hunt for fun, hunting for food wouldn't be too much of a stretch. I would have problems with entertainment, and I would become incredibly bored. But I would probably just play a sport for entertainment. For a life time I guess my initial well prepared state would allow me to adjust even more to my surroundings. Over all I think I would do pretty good.

I don't know why but I sort of trained myself to cope if electricity somehow ceased to exist. I guess I just realized at some point how much I rely on it, and fucked I'd be in a sudden Shit Hit The Fan situation.
So yeah, I think I'd cope. Better than the average teenager would, anyway.

Also am I the only one who actually likes a power outage every once in a while? Reading a book by candle light ftw.

You would need some tinder in order for that to work, firewood is not going to burn just from sparks hitting it.

I would be able to manage without it, but I would be sad for a while. I am a phone addict and that is the only way to charge it. I can imagine people killing each over over batterys lol.

It won't be long till my dream of being Warlord of Sussex becomes reality. Then we can kill all the dirty gypsies and mockneys in Kent. How dare they touch a county far superior to it.

I would have to do my best. But I have no outdoor or survival training seeing as I was raised in the city. I'd do my best but I would probably fail hard.

I'd read more books, probably. Sit inside less. Go to bed earlier during the darker months, and in general. My big issue would be music. I do have LPs, but my player runs on electricity. And I do love me some electronic music once in a whiff.

I'm back, I guess.

I don't think you guys get it - you couldn't just go on with your daily lives - this isn't a temporary blackout - this is PERMENANT- which means people would be rioting.. acting like animals, pillaging, looting..and whatnot.

no. i have never made a fire in the wild without using matches.
even if i can, i wouldn't be able to survive for long unless i were taught how to hunt for food and search for water. i am confident that i would be able to learn the necessary survival skills given enough time.

once all my basic needs had been satisfied, searching for sources of entertainment which keep me from going insane might become the main challenge.
