So recently my disc of New Vegas has become broken and although normally this would piss me off, but after my second play-through It was getting a little repetitive before the game broke, and as much as I would like to get a new one, I only care to do so due to the amount of work I put into my 2nd character.
So I had a great time playing the game, it was a nice throw-back to my favorite game (Oblivion) but I would like to play a new game. I like the many RPG elements to the game but at times it felt like you had to go find a fight, and even then the fights are often too short
I like the atmosphere of the post-apocalyptic games, but what was lacking in FNV was the amount of stealth and actual danger to it, I almost never really died in the game and sometimes there were times were I could play for two hours with-out there being a fight.
As of now I have 3 possible replacements, of these three which does you NG feel is the best game?
-Metro 2033
-Bioshock
-Fallout 3 (I am really not in the mood to play another Sand-box game, plus I heard the combat was not a good a FNV)

Metro 2033 is a... very niche game. A flawed gem. You either love it or hate it.
Bioshock? I loved, and it gets generably favorable reviews.
Fallout 3, Is the one to go for. In fact, I have no idea why you played New Vegas first.

I've never played Metro but I've heard good things about it. I never played the first Bioshock but have played the second which was awesome. I played Fallout 3 more then I ever played New Vegas.
Really it's your call OP, do some research and find which one suits you more. And the combat is pretty much the same for F3 and NV minus iron sights(at least I didn't notice a difference).

If you do get Fallout 3 make sure you get the Game of the Year version, it makes Fallout 3 better than New Vegas.

Totally agree, I got the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 and I loved it, over 200 hours of playtime put into it compared to 30 hours on New Vegas.

You mean Broken Steel?

I was going to recommend Metro to begin with and this just reinforces that. Metro's gunplay is similar to that of the STALKER games, if you've played those. It's also got a fairly well done stealth system.
Metro is a masterpiece, imo. Incredible atmosphere, sombre, scary when it wants to be, great story. It's probably the best linear, story-based FPS I've played since Half-Life 2.

I was hoping my friends would be wrong when he said the combat is worse than New Vegas, but if it is just the same then I have incentive to buy it, unless I am wrong, I am looking for a more "action" version of fallout.
But if Fallout 3 is as better as you guys say it is, I'd like to know why, because to be honest here its not as easy a decision than Morrowind or Oblivion, there's only a two year difference and both are almost the same game.
As of now I might be leaning more towards Metro 2033 unless someone can point out any flaws it has.

Like I said the only difference, at least what I noticed, was the fact that in New Vegas you have ironsights. Fallout 3 had more of a "wasteland" atmosphere to it, every where you went you were constantly absorbing rads, and it just had a better feel to it(especially the colors). Fallout 3, imo, was a complete game while NV was rushed(a lot of features seemed unfinished) and in a way incomplete. Watch some gameplay videos and judge for yourself, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I enjoyed fallout 3 so much I bought it 4 different times...

Maybe it is the true "spiritual"successor of Oblivion if it can cause you to buy it more than once. lol.

It was possible to play without the annoying VATS system in New Vegas. Inb4 you could do it in F3 too. That game was obvioulsy made with only using VATS in mind.

Agreed. If you're looking for a completely dead world, then F3 is the way to go. Humanity rebuilding itself in NV was cool too, though. It makes more sense from a story perspective too, since it's been 200 damn years since the bombs fell.
Fallout 3, imo, was a complete game while NV was rushed(a lot of features seemed unfinished) and in a way incomplete. Watch some gameplay videos and judge for yourself, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
NV did pretty much everything F3 did, and did it better, imo.
So yeah, OP, I still say you should go with Metro.

NV > 3 in story
NV/3 both have same gameplay but nv offers more obviously since its after 3.
3/nv have the same amount of issues also some don't get issues my original nv/3 have zero issues whilst my goty 3 has a million fucking bugs im yet to get more then 1 issues with vegas but others have buggy copys.
Both are great titles stop your crying bethesda fanboys.
I'd suggest getting fallout 3 if you liked fallout nv or metro it's a pretty fun game as well.

All Broken Steel did was make you pay about $10 for a proper ending. It wasn't fun at all.
Anyway, OP, if you liked New Vegas you'll like Fallout 3. I don't think 3 is even half the game New Vegas is, but some like the atmosphere and locations in 3 more, so there's always that if you like exploring.

Amazing atmosphere, interesting characters and story, and it's about 8-10 hours long. Unique experience that you'll never forget. Can find it for about $20 (would recommend getting it cheaper for at least $10).
-Bioshock
Would definitely recommend this. Great buy atm.
-Fallout 3 (I am really not in the mood to play another Sand-box game, plus I heard the combat was not a good a FNV)
Bah, the combat is pretty much the same. Fallout 3: GOTY would get you numerous hours of entertainment.
Out of the choices, I'd get Fallout 3: GOTY edition. However because you're not in the mood for a sandbox game, I'd recommend Bioshock 1 (and 2 if you're up for it. Both of them are pretty cheap).

Its not really so much that I dont want to make another sandbox game, its just sometimes those games
(RPG, ehhh Id say Bioshock is a solo-fps with RPG elements) can feel like chores, know what I mean? Id like to just get in the game and start playing without the tutorials/shopping sprees before every quest/Making sure I have the supplies/ have to talk to this guy, etc.
I like those elements, trust me I do, but at times they get to be too much of a priority and as a result of all the people/quests, the fire fights lose their intensity compared to something like Gears or Black Ops, so I guess Im looking for a middle.
At the moment Im thinking Bioshock, but the other problem is : which one, Im afraid because of the change in roles (a lonely human against monstrous enemies scavenging for ammo, rather than a huge tank with superior fire power against weaklings) one game might be more to my liking than the other
Then again if I buy used I could get both Bioshock(1 or 2) and Metro

Bioshock. Most definitely. When you are up to playing a Fallout-style game again, hit up Fallout 3. The Game of the Year Edition comes with 50$ of DLC already on the disc (but makes the game incredibly laggy after you've reached Level 20-ish). But get Bioshock now, you will love yourself for it. I still do.
I usually frequent the VG and collaboration Forums. If you find me anywhere else, I'm lost and can't find my way back.

No offense, but I think you missed the point, games like that have less action than Bethseda's rpg's Im looking for something like being in a really long dungeon in Fallout, sort of like Doom, but with RPG elements, ahhhh fuck i'll just go with Bioshock 1. and pick up the second after I have had my fun with the first since its cheaper that way
