Why do women cry so much?

Well, not all women (before some girl starts bitching) but most women do cry about 100x more than your average man. Why is this? Is it a social thing, or is the brain wired different?

I honestly doubt it may be a social thing, because I don't even feel like crying so I don't hold it back to be manly or anything. Whenever something bad happens I never think "I need to cry" or something along those lines. I don't even really cry when people die anymore. I can't even remember the last time I honestly cried.

Then I notice my friends that are girls tend to cry over stuff that wouldn't even hurt my feelings. Like my friend who called me crying because she had a "fender bender" and she was just hysterical. Then another friend of mine text me a lot because her mom yells at her. Pretty minor shit to be crying about.

Thoughts on why this is? Are you a crier? Be honest.

I tend to just pretend that I care in a minority of cases; it's hard to empathise but some people just get more wound up than others. Plus I really care about my girlfriend so I don't like seeing her upset, regardless of the reason.

That is actually a good question. I mean Stereotypically speaking, woman are supposed to be more caring and compassionate whereas men are more logically driven.

And that would make sense for getting yelled at or something. But getting in a Fender Bender just doesn't make any sense to cry over.

Perhaps to answer this question we need to understand why human's cry anyway.

yes, because of evolution it would make no sense for female and male brains to function the same in every aspect. this accounts for discrepancies in emotions between the sexes.

I haven't seen many instances of females every actually crying, Cootie, and to be honest most of those were while I was in the city on short occasions. The ones that have cried around here were because of genuine distress; the instances I can list off the top of my head include their friends dying, their pets dying, that sort of sympathetic jazz.

I did, however, go into the city a few times and few women crying on the bus because of them being cheated on, missing out on a date, having someone say mean things to them on Facebook. A lot of cases of girls crying on buses. I don't know.

It was weird. It's definitely just a social upbringing, but its very localized. Girls don't seem to be naturally more sensitive or any of that bullshit, city-slicker upbringings just expect them to cry more.

I think it is bit of a social thing. People don't tell little girls that it's not ok to cry as much as they tell little boys. But the biggest factors, I think, are hormones and brain chemistry.
