Has anyone ever had the same urge as I have to go on one of these tours where they stick you in a shark cage or in one of the glass bubbles they have now, so you can get up close and personal with these creatures?

No, I'm not kidding. I'm genuinely fascinated by sharks and would love to go to South Africa (Australia is a bit far with respect to flight time for my liking) and do that.

Anyway, thoughts?

Are we talking about Great Whites here!? I'm not sure if those are very safe...

Or were you referring to sharks in general?

When I turned 18, I was gonna become a woman as I swam with the sharks.

I'd love to that.
I'd rather swim with sharks than dolphins

Which seems to be at the top of a lot of people's list

if you want a great cage experience liljim you need to go a few miles off the coast of South Africa, its Great White Central. but I cage dived with sharks in the carribbean it was still scary though.

You should do it. If anything else, it's a great conversation starter. The reality is however that they will pretty much just be big fish swimming around not giving a shit about some weird box in their hood. Unless you get to feed them of course.

I've scuba dived with seals before. That was pretty cool. But again, they really didn't give a shit. I was actually hoping that at least one of them would mock-attack, because they have a reputation of doing that, but they just swam around and smelt foul.

Yea I've always wanted to as well. Even though as a child I was scared of sharks because of Jaws, I've only grown more and more fascinated with them. I always watch shark week and think it would be amazing to experience.

Although my courage has severely dropped after seeing videos of sharks breaking through these cages.

But if Megalodon's were still lurking the oceans, I wouldn't even bother.

I have always wanted to. A friend of mine went to Hawaii and did it. He said it was amazing.
I think I would end up pussing out if I ever really got the opportunity.
It would be better than swimming with dolphins, I hear they kill more people than sharks do.

It would definitely be an experience, and sharks are pretty fascinating creatures. I've seen people do the whole underwater cage thing on TV and it still looked a bit unnerving, especially as the sharks were pretty rowdy and were bumping the cage and shit.

But yeah, I'd definitely do it if I had the money.

Now that the thought occurs to me, it'd be worth trying out. Of course, I'd want to make sure it's all safe and such. I've seen some shows with people inside those types of environments (i.e Discovery), and it looks quite fun if you know what you're doing.

It'd be cool to be up-close to an actual Great White--it's not something people do every day.

Why the fuck are you still online? It's late.

Anyway, yeah... it would be an experience and no I'm not particularly unnerved about getting into one of those cages. Despite the Discovery channel or whatever showing freak accidents, there's probably more chance of having a fatal car crash than anything going wrong when observing sharks.

Obviously, I wouldn't be spouting that rhetoric after I'd been eaten by them, but I'm skinny, so the sharks wouldn't get a particularly good meal if they decided to eat me. THE LAST LAUGH IS ON ME.

If I was ever suicidal, this is easily the way I'd kill myself.

Well I generally do love sealife and while swimming with a host of marine creatures does sound appealing I am still quite scared of sharks. I like them don't get me wrong, but to me it'd be like putting your hand in a kettle while you wait for it to boil. At first it's all cool, but you just know it's going to end bad eventually.

Ok so the things are usually completely safe, I would likely just die from worry though during it. Lovely creatures sharks, I just prefer to admire them from afar.

Terrible, terrible sleeping patterns :(

Definitely. Still, can you imagine the adrenaline you'd get from being charged at by a great white shark? Even from inside a purpose-built sharkproof cage it'd be pretty exciting (or so I'd imagine).
