You really did it now.

TL;DR

They've raised the price for unlimited streaming + 1 DVD a month from 9.99 to around 15 dollars. Plus they've separated the packages.

Anyone else thinking of cancelling?

This gives me another reason NOT to use Netflix.

I'm such a hipster. I've never used Netflix once.

There's still Redbox. I just want to watch Rocko's Modern Life via my PS3 for a 9.99 a month....

You can just get streaming for eight bucks a month if you get rid of DVDs. $16 is only if you use streaming and DVDs, which I unfortunately do.

Yeah, I think I'm going to cancel. I was paying $11.99 for Blu-Ray DVD (1 out at a time), and streaming. Now it's going to cost me $17.98 for the same thing.

Basically Netflix raised their rates, changed their plans, and only notified their customers via their Twitter and blog. I still have no email from them.

I don't use Netflix very often, and when I do it's split between streaming and DVD. I don't really want to pay $7.99 to stream a movie every now and then, or $7.99 to get a DVD in the mail now and then, and I sure as hell don't want to pay $17.98 a month to occasionally do both. I'd rather they made my current plan more limited and kept the price the same. Like 3 DVD's a month, and 10 hours of streaming a month. That would more than cover my needs.

I'm cancelling. This will not fly for me. The streaming already sucks. I pay MORE than enough for The services they offer. I'll not pay a cent more unless they upgrade my streaming to include all their DVD's.

This won't effect me since I only watch streaming anyway.

The problem with that, all the good shit is DVD only. All the new releases, and from what I've noticed, the movies people want to watch more, are DVD only.

Well, you can also only get DVD and not streaming for $7.99 a month as well.

That's just a hassle. You have to wait for the DVD, mail it back..Where I live the nearest post office is a good 15 minutes away. If I have to stick with DVD, I'll just go to Redbox. And honestly, with that price, I could just buy my movies instead.

I think that most people use streaming to mainly watch tv episodes, and dvd's to watch movies. I see no reason for the price increase.

I looked, and they do offer a limited plan. For $5.99 you can get up to 2 Blu-Ray DVD's a month (1 at a time), but here's the kicker, 2 hours of streaming a month! TWO HOURS! So if you want to watch a 2hr and 15 minute movie, you're screwed! Also the streaming won't work with Netflix ready devices, I think it only works from their website on a computer.

They should offer $9.99 for 3 blu-rays a month, and 10 hours of streaming to any Netflix device.

That's a steep price to pay, but I guess if you want to be optimistic, it's still cheaper than buying the actual movies. Maybe thats their idea.

I've felt that way about all of their limited streaming. I usually watch tv series on Netflix, so in 2 day I would go through the 10 hours.
5 Extra dollars doesn't seem that bad. I think its still a pretty good deal to get 1 movie out at a time (Standard, not blu-ray) and unlimited streaming. But the price increase is kind of a dick move without telling anyone.

I'm slowly starting to realize I should just get the streaming only option. If a new movie looks really good I'll try and catch it in the theater. If the move actually IS good, I end up buying the bluray. So the DVDs I end up getting are usually the rest of the shitty movies Hollywood shovels out every year.

I really only use the streaming to watch old moview and TV shows anyway so maybe Hulu would be the way to go too.

You mean like how a thief does it. (and the quality on those sites is pure shit anyways.)

I only do it with old shows and movies that aren't even being bought anymore. I wouldn't even know where to find "Jeremiah Johnson".
