Then a few minutes later I get a popup, I Alt+F4 it and look at my process's, I see something new, "DC1.exe" And another called "DC2.exe" And they were both using a considerable amount of CPU and memory, I end their processes and eventually my computer slows down to a T.
I then decide to system restore it, I went to System Restore but suddenly my "Real-Time Protection" or something turned off, I went to WSE and clicked "Turn on" but it said that there was an error, by this time I couldn't even browse the web due to the viruses.
I went into safe mode and that didnt really help, I tried every technique possible to restore my computer, but to no avail, by this time I was sure some fat bloke in Nigeria was stealing my account details, so I did the one last thing I could do, format my computer.
I had no backup of my data so I knew I was internally fucked, I followed the procedure and formatted all my files. 1 Day later and I've just came to my senses and realised just what I've lost of value; my MP3's, my Emulators, my ROMs, my animations that I was in the process of making.
Now I'm pretty fucking pissed off and would like to hear NewGround's experience with deadly viruses.
TL;DR What's the worst virus you have ever encountered?

"value"
The worst virus that I've ever encountered managed to take down my computer within 24 hours. I had to do a complete reinstall of my OS for the computer to work again.
My computer seemed like it fell apart when it got infected with the virus...It fell apart quickly, shutting down at random, being sluggish, etc.

windows security essentials is crap because it's made by windows AND its free....get some real programs like kasparsky.
System Restore
system restore is crap because it's made by windows...try the other system restore programs on the web, they cost less ram than the windows system restore.

Well WSE has done me a lot of good in the past, and it came with Windows 7, so free and good = great.
Also, could you recommend any good System Restore programs?
Worst virus that I had managed to launch a disk through the room (because the disk drive opened at extreme speed) and toasted the hard drive.
That was back in the Win98 days, after that my mom had installed multiple antivirus' which was a terrible idea too (both antivirus' will think the other once is a virus).
Now I have a Mac, the best antivirus for that is called common sense and I haven't had a virus in years.
The computer I am currently using used to have Windows Vista. We got some virus or some shit and my computer whiz of a brother insisted we had to wipe everything, so this computer is now running Windows XP. I don't think he REALLY had to do that, but as long as the damn thing works.
Luckily, I've never gotten anything worse than some spyware, and a bit of delete spamming and registry cleaning solved it. I had to virus scan my computer four times to get rid of the copies though.
As a general rule, make regular backups to an external hard drive and never download or click on anything unless you're absolutely sure that it's safe. Always look at the address bar.
those ''things of value'' cost you nothing and hell you are probably stupid enough to download a virus in rom form.

Yeah, that virus was pretty bad too. It came with my computer on this disk and it said it was from Microsoft.
It kept crashing my computer...

Those "things of value" weren't even half of the stuff I'm pissed off to lose, and some of them did cost me a lot of money.
I had a pretty bad rootkit. I got rid of it though. Didn't have to reload or anything. I fucking got lucky on that one.

You realise there's such a thing as free porn bro, no need to spend all your pocket money now :)
I've had nasty run ins with viruses. My worst experience though, has been with a hacker. He got into my computer over a Runescape account. I lost all sense of security when he started sending me messages, that scared the shit out of me.
.
I run MSE & MalwareBytes plus other security stuff... never had an issue

Right when I clicked that link I thought it was a virus, I gotta be more careful...
Beware the root virus. Your computer will just give a black screen when you try to turn it on and all it requires is a wireless network and an asshole neighbor so you don't have to download a thing.

Because password protection is such a complicated thing...
I hear ebola is pretty nasty. It does to you in 10 days what AIDS does to you in 10 years.

I think the very worst virus we had prevented from the computer from restarting, and we had to reformat. Haven't had anything that bad since, and it was in 2004.

Ah, ya beat me to it.
That is, making a reference to a biological virus, rather than computer virus.

Passwords can be cracked.
I used Kaspersky and it kept me safe for as long as I can remember.
On the other hand, I remember I used another computer, and Norton was in charge of protecting it.
The results: The Norton protected computer got a virus that fucked everything up.
So I uninstalled Norton and installed Kaspersky on that thingamajig. The virus was quickly killed, and the computer was back to normal.
The problem with my crappy computer now is (The one that didn't get a virus) its slow speed, but it's not a virus - it's just that Microsoft sucks at creating operating systems that don't have lag.
Oh shit, viruses! Don't worry, I know what to do.
What's up with that
