Why are people rating THIS as a bad drawing? I thought this was my best one!

Let's see. Skewed face, bad anatomy, odd pose, bland colors.

That's not a bad drawing at all, I like it. Could be improved, but so can every drawing. Nice jawb!

You have to realise that the Art Portal, just like anything else, is that its actually incredibly biased; not a particularly a bad thing, but there are certain aspects of art that the Art Portal prefers hav you have really got them.

- strong, decent lineart is a major crowd-pleaser. Just looking at this one piece, its pretty easy to see that the line quality is actually pretty weak, wobby, and the like.

- bright, vivid, saturated colours; not nearly a must, but colour is a favourite. you've got a single bland shade chucked over the entire picture then shaded quite lack-lustlessly.

- flow, and detail I'll just chuck into the one pose. The audience isn't actually too big on detail, but it does like a bit more then a single character drawn is a really odd pose and with nothing else to account for.

The Art Portal isn't a major bunch of educated critics, it's an audience, and thats an audience that you're appealing to. However, even looking from a completely different perspective, this picture is definitely not too good a one.

However, that being said, you shouldn't delete a piece, ever, just because you're afraid of the bad rep. Just accept it and move on, and improve as you go.

That's not a bad drawing anyway. It's just needs something that will enhance/improve the appearance of your drawing. Some changes in colors, form, and also it's anatomy.

To tell the truth, no. You need to strengthen the lines in places that show dynamic movement, in my opinion. Good luck.

i actuall like our first pic quitea bit i think people who saou need to improve the pose/shape/anatom are wrong. I mean if it's meanttobe some kind of hell spawned deamon who sas its going to follow normal anatom rules. I think deamons need to be twisted like that and slightll wrong if that makes sense. what i would sah is that its bland ou do need to add more shading highlights ect mabe a glint to thehorns. i also thinkin this case the colouring slightll outside of the lines works. But like i said this is just my opinion

ok what I think hes tryin to tell me is that I need to add more highlights or some crap like that. And someting about the anatomy.

Well just to say I DID use references. Such as posemaniacs for the pose of the horse and THE ALMIGHTY POWERUL REFERENCE SITE AN EVERYDAY USER CAN HAVE. for the horse head.... just sayin...

techinically I will continue drawing da slutty horse because

a. Its my unoffical mascot character that I may consider makin it one of me offical mascot characters.

b.its fun to draw for me. <3

c. I may want to develop it more eventually.

Sorry for the long post...
-The lines: People have said it, sketchy and really weak. Try to get some solid, strong strokes in there.
-The anatomy is really killing you. If you had good anatomy and whatnots the crappy lines might be mistaken as style or whatever you guys may call it because the base of the whole structure of the thing is solid. But since its not that great the crappy lines stand out more. (This does NOT excuse the line quality btw it just shows a bit more of, idk, potential...)
-Don't do things half-assed. And if they are then don't expect a great score.
-The Demon thing is fucked. The upper torso and the lower torso because are facing completely different directions. I mean, can you twist like that? And the whole " Oh he's a demon so his anatomy can be worse than a fucked up pelican nipple" is just stupid, you know damn well that that's bull so don't just go on that.
-The highlights/shading: Focus on drawing before you move into coloring/shading.
-The "Add muscles to everything"...again wtf...stupid shit.
The nekkid norse chick's boobs are messed up which wouldn't be so much of an issue if they weren't the focal point of the piece ( focal point thing is totally biased ;D). The rest isn't that bad except for the messed up head which you used ref on. Put more effort into it. If you use ref then what the hell, you're basically copying the pose so you know exactly what it should look like...make it look like it, if not then what the shit is the point. Work on the hands too look at your own hands if you have too, I do it all the time if I can't get some hands to look right or if I'm like "how should this look"
-Draw whatever you want to draw cuz regardless of the subject if it's done professionally the you can draw shitting dick nipples on that slut horses tits and people will be like " OK that's fucken disgusting but it's pretty well drawn...fuck, I think I'm gonna vomit...But it's pretty fucken well done...good job..."
-Basically... If you want people to say OMFG THIS IS AMAZING GEEZUS!!!11!1!! then take the time to study and practice and you'll get there. Look at books and videos and articles and whatever. Use the resources that are out there and you'll become better over time. Good luck.
