This. When I was in highschool, my girlfriend at the time painted me a painting like this, but instead of clocks, it was a melting guitar. I loved it.

i like a lot of paintings for ideological reasons (i don't judge art on "beauty" anymore) such as william blake's newton (i consider it to be the perfect attack on materialism), but i think my favorite painting is malevich's black square. it's the painting that utterly reinvented art and made anything before it seem irrelevant. i'd even go as far as saying if it wasn't for this painting and malevich's movement of suprematism, then the ussr might have been successful. it destroyed realism and was the ultimate championing of form over substance. a marxist's worst nightmare.

I when I was a little girl, I remember crying and wanting my mama. while crying and heart broken I was staring at this painting. I dont remember the events that caused me to be upset that day, I just remember crying. This may not be the most beautiful painting, but it symbolizes the close relationship I have with my mama.

Salvador Dali is my favorite painter, so I would probably go with this, but he has made a lot of other stuff.

Anything by Caspar David Friedrich, most of you might recognize "Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog".

That would be my favorite as well. You should check this bad boy out to.

Probably my favourite painting of all time is War Cripples by Otto Dix. I liked it so much I did my own version of it with Nintendo characters here.
