where can i get the planet exploding effects i can't find it nor woudl i know how to even begin to think about how to look for it. any help at all would be greatly appreciated. not sprites though

look through the links on that page, some might be a bit old the the same rules still apply. From a quick glance these can be applied to your planet explosions.
