In this thread we share the the useful tips, tricks, and even trends that you learned from playing games. The kind of stuff that applies to all video games.

For example:

When fighting multiple enemies, It's always best to kill the smaller weaker enemies first and then the stronger ones.

So what did you learn?

Runescape exposed me to the world of online multiplayer games, taught me how to interact with other people on the internet, have a good time with friends online, and learn to respect the newbies.

I also learned how to brew beer from that game.

At some point in a RPG you'll have to grind. Alot.

1) Be prepared to change tactics
2) Kill the healer / caster if no healer, first.

First should come before Second. Sometimes very rarely the game might decide to be a dick and make the healer / caster the bad one to target first. So if it looks very bad change to the other.

Main example of this would be an extra boss in Skies of Arcadia Legends. Killing the smaller target that buffs and uses healing first makes the other target become enraged and heavily kick your ass 1 hitting the entire party in a row. So instead need to live with the healing and buffs while you knock out the seemingly lesser target first.

It doesn't really apply to FPS games but while a ranged fighter might seem like a good idea, they often do less damage than the melee characters and because you have to be close enough to see the enemy to attack the low health/armor of ranged fighters often makes them more of a liability than anything else. Unless you are a very experienced player stick with the melee combat.

My first MMORPG was/is Tibia. I learned quickly that training/grinding is a must in the long run!

World at War taught me that a machine gun that shoots 9MM bullets is the most powerful weapon next to a rocket launcher and is just as effective as a sniper and spray and pray.

While it's cool that games have top of the line writing for their stories (Portal, Mass Effect, etc.)

I find it more fun when it has silly B-movie stuff instead (Duke Nukem, GTA3, etc.)

If there are multiple enemies... Use an AoE that can stun or kill them all in one shot.

Also... Do a barrel roll!!!

Wakka from FFX.

I've learned that you need to focus on the boss, the killing the weaklings is pointless. Always look for explosive barrels. Hacking similar to playing a game of Pipes. If you're in a cutscene and everyone in the vehicle is red shirt, then that vehicle is going to explode, leaving you to fend for yourself. every time you open a chest you must hold the item over your head.

Is that the Meat Cleaver black phantom in 5-2? Yeah?

I never really got why everyone found her so hard. I just got out a mirdan hammer that I found earlier in the swamp and went to town on her with it.

Even though it's their turf the enemies you're fighting never seem to realize that the red barrels they randomly scattered throughout go boom when shot and they probably shouldn't stand near them.

Always break vases/jars in Legend of Zelda games. They almost always have Rupees in them.

Your in a swamp; you can't dodge, and she is alot faster than you because she doesn't go through the muck.

Not something for the beginner or intermedite.
