You created an account to make a troll-bait throw-away thread about religion? You need a hobby.

I agree, but the thing is, I recently just met a few people. And actually got to know them. They made me realize that I almost believe in 2012.
If no one here can speak up for their religion...then you're like four other forums I've visited. The other twenty-three or so actually came up with good debates.
Come on you guys, don't let ACTUAL debates and the process of THOUGHT die!! The world needs people with actual BRAINS!! and No! I'm not an effing zombie. -____-*

Faith and knowledge are opposite sides of the same coin. Given that we live in a world where fact relies on observation and belief relies on faith in the known: knowledge of the unknown is impossible but faith that what's known can be present in the unknown is.
Basically: don't begrudge one their faith, for it is rooted and untouchable--firmly planted outside the realm of the knowable.
Also: you DO need reference to know what is and is not right. That reference can be a book, your parents, your family, your friends, or whatever; without any reference it is unlikely that you will come to decide on your own through the course of your development that anything other than that which is thought to be for your best interest. Instincts for survival demand it.

Awesome. Someone with copy pasta skills. That's exactly what we need.
I agree with that last bit though. It's just that, that's exactly why I believe in 2012 [almost] because it's normal for the sane people of society to acknowledge that there are people with little to no morality! D:

It's funny how people will claim to be more logical or rational due to their beliefs even when that person has never actually bothered to understand the origin of such things.
And today's morality is just bullshit. There has been no decline in morality, rather a dramatic increase. Now people are being persecuted for perfectly natural impulses more than ever. If there is one thing " wrong " with our world it has got to be the morons saying what constitutes right and wrong behavior.

I don't see how belief in 2012 (I'm assuming you're referring to the alleged "prophecy" that the world will end) follows necessarily from the normalcy in society's sane members to acknowledge (assert, perhaps erroneously) that others exist who are immoral. I certainly do not believe we are on the brink of the world ending on any specific date any more than we are on any given day.

Either using a capital at the begining or all words or not doing it. I would prefer that. At least then I might consider reading.

Telling you to fuck off hardly means I lost my temper. ; ) As for unoriginality... kinda hard to refute for a couple reasons: 1) I don't know what you've heard 2) I can't know if you understood my point as I made it because you aren't really furthering any discussion regarding the points I raised.
I'm not agreeing with the world blowing apart in 2012, just that society really is deteriorating. You almost made me say," GOD MAN, READ BETWEEN THE LINES!!" but then i realized that i'm debating about atheism...
I can't just fabricate your opinions with no prior knowledge of who you are. As an atheist, assumptions of that nature aren't my style.
I think your idea that society is deteriorating is biased based on the fact that you have only experienced a tiny fraction of the ubiquity that is society. You live in one small part of a very large world in one minute portion of a far greater time frame. As such I don't know that I'd grant you the consideration for the thought. I would happily argue that society is progressing in ways that far outstrip the ways that it is progressing. You can say it's a bad thing and that's your opinion, whereas I think we're making substantial positive progress.

All that I've figured is that religions [as non-violent as they may claim to be] have only ever caused violence!
1) I've heard name-calling and ignorant people "scheming" against other religions. The gory mess in history books. Killing people for not converting. Trying to be tolerant, but not holding up to it because of tension! then I realized that some humans just SUCK at UNDERSTANDING! Probably because they don't even understand what they believe in themselves! D:

Not biased, not really. I mean, have you noticed the crap made that is rewarded these days? Mainly in the music industry? Auto-tune: BRILLIANT! but the shitload that pours out of autotune is not so creative now is it? There's this !!BREAKING NEWS!! about a freak storm followed by news of lindsay lohan retching out of a car!!
That IS biased because of where I live. But daaaayum! There's also a whole bunch of shit going on around the world. Starving has never decreased. Raping and murders are punished with DEATH?!! What the hell was the lesson in that eh? I may sound ill-informed about the world, but I've been hearing things that I can't really confirm since I'm not in Turkey, Bangladesh, or Iraq, or New York, [any other state]...etc

Yea, I agree, but his/her point has been used and reused on SEVERAL occasions, so it is no longer a fresh thought, just one that is known to be true...if that makes any sense to you...o___O
