Approve. Marriage shouldn't be a religious issue. In Canada, it legally isn't, as far as I know. I don't know about the 44 states in America without gay marriage.

Many cultures practice marriage, it goes back to the beginning of history. Princes and queens marrying families. Now, marriage is a union under God, by generic definition ala formerly the church had a much bigger role in societies affairs. They were the government, the king the hand of God so to speak. Marriage is when a man takes a woman and gives her his name, which would be passed onto his children, formally. Sti's have their first appearance in history around 1400. Marrying a virgin bride before modern day science would obviously be pretty key whether or not they could explain why I would imagine.
But now with modern times, homosexuality is a norm what with vibrators, lubricant and condoms. I think that two gay couples could be common law house mates, but for it to be an ordained wedding by the church given the history of marriage that would be really up to the church and what if stands for. Civil union and common law are almost identical if not completely as far as tax breaks and w/e in Canada not sure about the US tho. Gay is an option these days.

Actually marriage can be either a legal ceremony or a religious one. The concept of marriage isn't the property of organised religion, as much as the religious think it is.

By definition, marriage is a legal union between two people. This union is recognized by the government first. The church does not take precedence at all.

Churches are not the only institutions that sanction marriages as legal. Technically, the government handles marriages first and foremost. The church has little to no role when you think about it.

It's completely different in the U.S. "Civil Unions" are not the same legally speaking.
Gay is an option these days.
Anyone who thinks that homosexuality is a choice is a moron, pure and simple.

You are absolutely right. Just because somethings been done for thousands of years doesn't make it right. But lets put it this way, people have been eating for thousands of years through their mouths. Lets say someone came up with the bright idea to instead insert food into their rectums, and try to digest their food the opposite way, knowing it wouldn't work. Is that still eating?
Why do you have a problem with the name of a lifelong relationship? What would it matter to you if it is called "marriage" as opposed to "civil union."
Also, how does the legalization of gay marriage negatively impact your life and what you do? Please tell me.
Honestly, it does not impact me in any way, shape, or form. That is just my personal opinion on how things should be.

I do not view gay marriage as a religious issue, but more of a civil rights issue.
Personally, I am for gay marriage because if 2 people do truly love each other, then what difference would it make for them to get married anyway? Also, I don't understand why some people would think that gay parents would be considered worse for children, than a straight couple who has kids, and are drunks/druggies, neglient and even abusive.
Sadly, where I used to live {Texas}, and where I live now {Ohio} are staunchly anti-gay marriage, despite have a sizable population of LGBT people in Columbus and in Cleveland. I don't really understand the reasoning behind all this, especially if they are harming no one with their lifestyle, and wish to seek happiness with their partner.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.
