I think all games should convey the plot, atmosphere or the message of the book in some way or another. Even if it doesn't follow a plot, the player should have a good idea of what the book is about.
I think the winning game should convey the same feelings the book did, or at least as close as possible to it.
Fair enough, I suppose.
Don't worry. We're NOT doing a Harry potter gem swap game. HeHe.

left info..
Our game is based on Harry Potter, Twilight Saga, and Jaws. The characters is still based on their original ability. Back to work...
Wow, you've actually done something. My team has had the absolute worst sync issues, all that's I've done is start on a point and click engine that probably won't even get used.
We have some things done.
IT's just that we have 135 items to hard-code in, as well as draw the icon for....No Big Deal....

Yeah, from now on I'll try to announce everything as a FP post. I just didn't see the point in making announcements and then making a separate conversation thread.

Based on the James Bond stories by Ian Fleming.
I am seriously looking forward to all the games. I really hope everyone really interprets the books they chose and portray that in the game.
And I *really* hope the judging is based on how well a story incorporated the book, the general experience with the game and how fun it was, rather than portal popularity.

Haha, that can end up very generic.

I don't. :|
I hope it's based on how good the game was.

It might feel generic, but actually what most people consider the "spy feel" was largely the result of the James Bond books and movies. That being said, we're making an effort to stand out. Plus, Bond from the books is significantly different from Bond in the movies, so it should be a different experience from what you might expect.

Oh man, Des and I considered this briefly. I'm glad someone else decided to do it! Seriously, I can't wait to see how you manage this, since Slaughterhouse 5 is one of my favorites!

Very cool! You should make at least one women-swaying mini-game.

Also, are comic books fair game?
I could totally see someone doing a game about Tintin.

IMO, the Bible should count because Austin said "fiction or nonfiction," so no matter what you believe it fits in the category (also it is the best selling book of all time). As far as comic books, I'd wait for Austin to say something, but I'm of the opinion that if it's a "graphic novel" (i.e. a complete story and longer than a standard comic book) it should be passable, like Watchmen. Again, though, I'd wait for Austin's input.
If it's a book and it has a Wikipedia article, you're good to go. You might not score many originality points with a Rorschach stealth game, however.

Me and WaterHorse are doing Rick Cook's Wizard's Bane.
Unfortunately, my understanding of Forth is not good enough to implement it in ActionScript, so I'm making a weird RPN crossbreed.

RPN? Reverse Polish notation?
I didn't know that was a good alternative for ActionScript. I'll have to try it some time.
