Need Story For Flash Game Sequel! 2011-06-15 21:32:19 Reply

Hello! I'm looking for writer(s) who can help me come up with a main storyline, but most importantly, and ending for the sequel of my flash game, Zombies - Surrounded.

I want to pick up where that game left off. A soldier on top of a building shoots at you as you run by (He thinks you're infected) and he misses. You then team up with a group of survivors there, in that very building. Your role in the game is to search through the town day by day and find supplies. (food, barricade items, ETC.) There will be a few parts in the game where you do get to shoot zombies, but for the most part, you are on the edge of your seat, searching through recently abandoned buildings.
Sometimes you may come across survivors, and you may choose to bring them with you to the safe house, or dispatch them... You won't be able to save every survivor, because you just can't find enough supplies to support all of them, so choose who you want to live with you wisely. You will come across some survivors who have things to trade, and there will be some mini-missions (for example, a man you rescued is sure that the outbreak is biblically related, and wants you to find him a bible somewhere in the town. In return for the bible, he offers you a shotgun) The navigation will be first-person point and click. This is an adventure-RPG game. You will be able to search through the whole fictional town of Eastview.

Basically, I want a solid ending that isn't too cliche. This is the last game in the series. Remember, I'm not looking for an entire script, I'd just like a short story about a group of (10-ish) survivors that manage to fend off the infected in an old building for about a month (or however long), then after that month something significant happens that ends the story. (No helicopter rescue please - that's about the most cliche ending ever!)

Here is an example of what I am looking for: "A group of survivors camped out in an old power station send the main character, Lance, out into town to search for supplies. Whilst exploring, Lance discovers a heavily barricaded building full of strange lab equipment. The survivors come in contact with the government, who tell them that there is a machine that was created to be used as a last resort if the infection "got loose", and that they are not able to remotely detonate the machine that releases a cure for the virus into the atmosphere. The government instructs the survivors carefully about how to activate the machine. On the last day of the game, the main character succeeds in activating the machine, and to his horror an atomic bomb is set off that kills everything and everyone in and near the town. (They were lied to, and had to be sacrificed to save the world)"

Anyone who helps me (not everyone who posts, but if your idea helps me) will have their name in the credits of my next game, and if you help me significantly, I will even co-author you on Newgrounds! Please note that this game may take 6 months to a year to finish.

You can PM me, or you can post ideas here in the thread. Both will work! Thread-posts preferred!

Enjoy this image of a featured Zombies 3 infected about to have dinner. By the way, the game is still unnamed.

Here's what I came up with. It is a very basic intro with an outline. I may work on the script later, as well as some plot lines and missions.

"Zombies 3"

The town didn't look unkempt, or messy, or fucked-up--whatever you want to call it--it just looked empty. But it was unkempt, and messy--especially fucked-up. Lance sprinted and leaned down while the soldiers on the roof fired at him. He made it to the town and scurried around the corner of a building as bullets cracked the cornerstone and the boom resounded moments later. Several more shots rang out as bodies following him fell and organs and blood spilled. After a minute or two Lance gathered his thoughts. Someone is firing at me--human, someone human. He took off his shirt and held it out, waving it wildly. "Hey! Hey! Help!..."

Silence.

Lance stepped out and spotted the building down the road, and detected two figures on the roof. A light flickered on, and flashed several times. Morse was unfamiliar but Lance proceeded to the building anyway.

As he drew near, the first figure yelled "Hey! Identify yourself!" The second man spoke "Are you alright? You are not sick--C'mon! Hurry in!" Lance discerned their camouflaged uniforms in the dark.

Lance leaned against the door as heavy footsteps pounded and the bolt slid free. A gun greeted him. "Ok! He's ok!" the man shouted upwards, "Come on, Get in!."

Characters:
Characters:

Lance Greenly - Main character. Traumatized but recovering. He is a bit selfish and desperately wants to survive but becomes interested in others' welfare, especially Mindy's and Natalie's.

Sgt. Maj. "Mack" - A soldier. He was aiding civilians when riots began and he was separated from his division. Specialist Cameron is under his command, and is also his best friend in the Army Reserve. He carries a standard issue handgun and assault rifle fitted with a scope. He fought in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He is gruff and strong-willed and only shows his soft side to Cameron and Mindy.

SPC. Cameron - A soldier. He and Sgt. Maj. Mack are good friends and were smoking when the infected caused mass riots and pandemonium. He serves as Mack's spotter and he served in Afghanistan but was honorably discharged. He is very friendly but a occasionally tries to ease the tension with lame jokes. He is Mack's age but looks and acts much younger.

Miranda "Mindy" - A shy little girl of about 10. Mack and Cameron found her in a house, hiding in a cabinet. When asked for her name, she spoke her only word: "Miranda." She is affectionately called Mindy by the soldiers, who rescued her.

Dorothy Bertha - An old woman. Lance and Cameron find her. She is skilled in handiwork and nursing (treating wounds, making bandages, sewing etc.) She is often left to babysit Mindy.

Father Marzinski - A priest. Lance, Mack, and Cameron find him praying in the church. He is very skinny and will not leave the church. He constantly mentions his bible, which is in his home.

Marion Spielmann - A British tourist. He was visiting his cousin when the infection broke out. His accent is very subtle. He encounters Lance and Cameron. He is very skilled with hunting rifles. He develops a crush on Natalie and competes with Lance.

Quentin Noll - An old curmudgeon. He doesn't have any apparent reason for living. He is violent, and rash. He is fighting off zombies when Lance, Mack, and Cameron aid him. He hates kids and especially Mindy (calling her a waste of food). His only friend is Dorothy. He is a skilled craftsman.

Natalie Garner - A pretty lady. She is Lance's love interest. Lance and Cameron find her. She is very affectionate towards Mindy. She is useless in fighting off zombies but she keeps the band together.

I thought it would be cool if the ending would be different depending on who survived and the best ending would be if everyone survived. I imagine that either Mack or Cameron would die sacrificing himself. Quentin's and Father Marzinski's fates are unknown. Basically the group makes a final stand before they are overrun. Quentin was working on a truck and all the surviving members escape. The engine is smoking and the zombies are climbing on it.

Flash forward 30 years. Lance is an old man living in a small house. Natalie is his wife and they raised Mindy as their daughter (if Natalie was killed, Lance raised her). Marion is living with them and is still a bit bitter about Natalie. Dorothy has since passed away. Either Cameron or Mack lived with them but has moved on, helping people. As Lance stairs out the window, the audience sees that the town they live is in complete ruin, in contrast to the nicely kept house. It is revealed that they may be the last human survivors, and Lance begins coughing up blood.

Despite the name, I'm actually good--Deft, and good!

Giving out reviews to anyone who wants them (exception: poems. I'll find you).

I don't have a story for you, but I do have a punchline.

The group of survivors find their way to a Church as they try to escape Eastview. There they meet a man praying before the altar. It is a pastor that Lance knows.

The Zombie virus is revealed to have been engineered by this religious zealot who believes that the Zombie Apocalypse is the the Second Coming of Christ. He reasons that because Christ rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven, the only way into Heaven is by doing the same. He released the virus to bring salvation to humanity. Lance and the pastor pull guns on each other (Boss battle?) Suddenly, a hoard of zombies rush through the Church doors and devours everyone.

The story should end with voice over narration of Lance.
"Everyone around me fell to the army of the Dead. Soon enough, the last rushes of humanity began to leak from me as well. I stared at the beast that had sunk into my forearm, trying to wrench away... when I noticed something strange about the look of hunger in its eyes... It was... familiar. I had seen that hunger before" (flashback)

The flashback is set in the same cathedral except its during Lance's childhood. The congregation listens in rapt attention as the pastor (perhaps the same crazy pastor) holds up bread and wine and says "This is is the flesh and blood of Christ. Take it, eat it, and be blessed. Praise be to God." The congregation responds with Praise be to God. the last voiceover narration says "Looking back on that, I realized that there is very little difference between being a zombie and being alive."

k that's the best I got for ya.
