Main character meets an enemy who is more powerful than them, and all other enemies before them. The character gets their ass kicked until near the end. Then the character pulls some new power or something out of their ass and then wins the fight. This may span 1-4 episodes. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
Same with Naruto.
And Inuyasha.
And Kekkaishi.
And most other anime that is popular in the US.

Well, no dur. First you introduce the enemy, establish them as being powerful so that the protagonists seem to be in real danger, then you have the protagonists find the enemy's Achilles Heel. Since a fight where the protagonist is always in the lead would be boring, they have to win suddenly at the end.

Why would you say this. I have one for you, if you don't like it, don't watch it, and leave the watching to people who like to watch it, since in their opinion it IS interesting.
If I'd like anime I bet I'd like it because it's simple, it doesn't require a lot of thought to grasp, but some people, a lot actually, prefer it, and that's okay.

That's why I like Yu Yu Hakusho. Sometimes it's obvious Yusuke pulls something out of his ass, but other times it's teamwork or intuitiveness that trumps the large and powerful foes.
Inuyasha only got his ass handed to him a few times in the series. Anyone else he pretty much bowled over them.

I watched Inuyasha, it was interesting until after some 4 episodes. The rest of them were just plain cliche.

How dumb can one person be? Writing isn't word choice it's making an original and compelling image. You can write an anime like bleach by writing 3 original episodes and using ctrl+f to change the characters around a copuple hundred times.
