I'm originally from California, and have never been overseas in my almost 18 years of living until those seven days ago. I'm half Asian American so it's cool to get with my roots. I actually blend in with the Chinese here unlike my sister.
I've spent about 3/4 of my time in Beijing so far and I really liked it there. While like most of China, having a lot of poverty and in some parts very dirty and old, it's a cool city with lots to do (come on, Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden Square, Summer Place). Shanghai doesn't have the natural beauty like Beijing though, even though it's a large city with much to do. Beijing, being closer to Japan, you can tell there's a Japanese influence there haha. Plus the girls in Beijing are pretty fine.
So the topic is about the face of Asia changing. 20 years ago if I visited Shanghai and Beijing it wouldn't look anything like what it is today, and my mom first said that. Asia is rapidly developing and has a lot of people immigrating here or visiting here, from all kinds of places, many of these people being overseas-born Asians, but you'll find all kinds of walks of life visiting. So many French tourists here haha. Asia has growing cities that people love visiting: Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, Saigon, etc. The vibrancy in these cities are definitely higher than San Francisco and maybe even New York City.
Would you ever move to Asia for a while to study, work, or just plain live because you want to? If you don't like small towns, you probably won't like a lot of Asian countries, except for maybe Japan, which has a lot of nice coastal small towns. I would recommend visiting first before living. Sure the quality of life is better in Europe but Asia just has that feel that the U.S., Europe, and other parts of the world just can't acquire.
i've thought about learning some kind of asian language. i've always wanted to be one of those slick, suit-wearing, six figure-making businessmen that go on trips to asian countries to discuss deals and shit. i think it'd be pretty badass.

yeah you see plenty of them here. but a lot of them probably just want to get an Asian chick for themselves.
I'd like to visit sometime, but I don't have any plans now.
jesus christ another thread about your attempts to explore your asian heritage wow
I'd like to learn some japanese
So I can curse out otaku, and they won't be any the wiser.
Life is a performance, and the world is full of critics. Give it your all like it's your last show.
You don't even want to know
go to japan next time, roast some marshmellows on the beach, if ya lucky, they will spring to life
The US and every other Western country out there can't make new technology or keep a good economy for shit, so yeah I might move to China, learn Chinese and live life good
