A young mother smoked 3,500 cigarettes while pregnant - claiming it was good for her baby.
Charlie Wilcox, whose daughter Lilly is now 14 weeks, reckoned that smoking would make her unborn child's heart stronger by restricting her oxygen supply and forcing her heart to work harder.
While she was pregnant Miss Wilcox told BBC3's Misbehaving Mums To Be: 'It's making the baby use its heart on its own in the first place, so that when it comes out, it's going to be able to do them (sic) things by itself.
'Where's the proof that it's so bad to smoke?'
Lilly weighed just 6lb 2oz at birth - more than a pound less than the UK average of 7lb 4oz. She was also born ten days early.
Midwives tested 20-year-old Miss Wilcox's carbon monoxide levels when she was pregnant and discovered they were six times higher than the level considered safe for a baby.
Evidently, this woman has no understanding of human biology. I really do think that social services needs to take this baby into protective custody. Her mother's stupidity actually endangered her health, and continues to do so.

It's just 1/7.000.000.000, who cares if that child would die.
Tick Tock

I actually like that answer really much.
Woah.
Tick Tock
It´s actually surprising how unintelligent she appears to be, she damaged her poor child and doesn´t even understand it.

Where is the bottom? There has to be a bottom that stupidity can hit somewhere.
Only in Australia
Only in America
Only in Russia
Only in England
Only in Japan
Only in Poland

You'd be surprised.
It's her choice. If she fucks up, it's her own fault.

Not to say that smoking during a pregnancy is a good idea. But people do tend to fuss a bit too much about all the rules concerning pregnancy and babies.
At this, there's plenty of babies that are born prematurely. 10 days is really nothing special. Similarly, 6lb is not that dramatic. so despite being irresponsible, her baby, as far as I read it, didn't suffer consequences.
Is it a smart or responsible thing to do? No. But it's also a pile up from the classic "Oh, it's a baby if you don't do things exactly by the book, it will explode!!!!"

It seems like the stupidity of humanity is really endless.

I was laughing too.
Emphasis are great!
the mother should be jailed for this. smoking while pregnant is clearly not good for both the mother and her baby. although the baby might not suffer from long-term health consequnces as a result of increased CO level, this does not make the mother less guilty of neglience. her intentions may be good, however, the failure to consult expert opinion before smoking cigarette excessively is simply wrong.
her stupidity sickened me.
I am just a random user from a set of measure zero and thus am negligible. Or to put it another way, a worthless piece of shit.

Not smoking during pregnancy is not a rule you can fuss too much about. It can easily have catastrophic effects on your child's health.
Fussing too much about not smoking just ends up with you... Not smoking.

"Mum, why are my lungs and heart fucked up so much?"
"Because I thought smoking 10k cigs was a fucking smart idea when I was pregnant!"
Oh you.
If you want a healthy baby, only eat organic foods, no junk food, only drink water and especially, do not smoke cigarettes.
Is this woman retarded?
