3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsI'm sorry I've made 2 or 3 news posts and now a forum topic about it, but I really need all the opinions and suggestions I can get. I can't decide if I should get Halo Reach or Starcraft 2, because, well, let me explain my situation with both games...
Halo Reach:
I got an xbox360 a while ago, and the only game I have is Castle Crashers, so I've been thinking about getting another game, and Halo Reach seems like a good option. I've never played any Halo before, and I've never been a big fan of shooters, but this one got my attention, seems like fun. The thing is I don't have a gold account, so if I get this game, I wouldn't be able to play online, only with my brother. Is it worth it to buy it if I don't have a gold account?
Starcraft 2:
I bought a 6 month time for it on November, and it has expired, maybe upgrading it to unlimited time would be a good idea, because I don't need to pay extra to play online, but my computer sucks at running it, so I've had to ask my brother to let me use his laptop.
The problem is he usually takes it with him to school, so most of the time I don't have access to it. Plus, even though his laptop can run it, it builds heat quickly, even with a cooling pad, and summer is close, it could damage the video card if I play on hot days (it has happened before). Is it worth it to buy a game I don't have constant access to, but I like it and I don't have to pay extra to play it?
Please tell me what you think, any opinion will be helpful. Which game should I get? Or should I wait for another game to be released? or until I get a better computer?

No.

You could always try playing the first Starcraft and see how it runs on your desktop.
If you don't have a dedicated computer to run StarCraft II decently, then I guess I would just go with Halo.
It really just depends what.. type of game you like more though. I personally would go with StarCraft II x10 over, it's an excellent game.
Well since you never played halo before and you have played starcraft 2 for a while but since you dont always get to play starcraft, I suggest halo.
you can continue the starcraft 2 account any time you want while in the mean time you could just keep using trial accounts (if they still do them).
But halo is alot more fun with a group of friends. Becuase of the game types and maps which can be made it can be a lot more varied than the repetitive online matches.
But if you enjoy more the brains of games rather than the skill (basically, you can be really good at halo if you have good thumbs in order to aim at the head with a sniper ona moving target 100s of meters away or do you prefer the brains of RTS where you have to plan construction of buildings, defenses or units so the enemy doesnt get the upper hand) then you may wanna find a way to be able to play starcraft 2
Death cures a fool
Wait until you have a [dedicated] rig that can run SC2 well. As for Halo, its a social online game, so you're definitely going to need some friends and gold. I'd shoot for a good single player game, given the situation you're in.
i dont give a fuck a million dollars im a samurai
sad shame son. starcraft two for pc if you like it or halo reach for console if you know it.

Wait wut? Isn't halo exactly that? Repetitive online matches? Starcraft two has shit tons more maps, not to mention user generated modifications that are perfectly legal because they don't take away from gameplay.
Get starcraft 2. We have a metal slug mod.
Buy whatever you can play with your friends on.

Nono, I have a laptop too xD It's actually newer than my brother's, but somehow my video card is not as good, so I can't get good enough frames per second to play decently.

Well, both games are similar because it's focused on having online matches, and yes, starcraft has lots of maps and mods, but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea as I don't have a really good computer to run it.

Wait, I'm confused. Starcraft 2 doesn't have a subscription? Or do they in Mexico?

Well i did suggest custom maps/games as they vary thing sup but online matches can vary as you can take different routes and methods while in strarcraft 2, you will be limited to the methods of gameplay which succeed. in starcraft 2 you cant exactly goof around unlike halo where you can charge into the heat with nothing but a pistol on a mongoose.

Although i did forget about the stracraft 2 mods. Starcraft 2 mods offer a hell lot more variation on the looks of things with racing games and fps/scroller shooters all based on a rts.

I don't quite understand what you're asking. If you mean that if we do have Starcraft 2 subscriptions in Mexico, yes, but it's a different server. There's the North America server and the Latin America one. I don't know if I should buy the unlimited subscription for Starcraft or get Halo Reach.

Huh, I did not know that. I must be a real bastard then, because on NA you don't have to pay.
Yeah I just realized I worded it weirdly. I was asking if you had to pay-to-play in Mexico.

Oh, then I think I misunderstood. It's the same as in NA, you can download the game for free but to play it, you need the key that comes in the box when you buy the game. With the key you activate your account, first for 6 months, then you can buy another key for unlimited time.
I think the way I explain is a bit confusing, isn't it? xD

No, in NA you buy the game for $60, then you get to play the game as much as you want, there are no subscription fees. If you don't buy it you don't get to play at all.
I'm a HUGE fan of both series.
Get Starcraft 2.
Halo: Reach will disappoint you. It really will.
Get Starcraft 2 and enjoy the main game itself, and all the amazing custom games such as Mafia, Risk, etc. all for free.

Say no to rape.

Why make something free if it is still profitable?

They still are making lots of money off star craft. Its still in stores everywhere. I'm probably going to go grab a copy soon. Its good because it has outdated graphics but the gameplay is still amazing.
I want star craft 2 but I don't want it to slow down my computer :( .
Don't get reach if you haven't played the rest of the series before, you won't have a clue as to what the whole gist of the plot is. I recommend Halo CE first.
At 6/1/11 01:06 AM, Travis wrote: Quit inciting flame wars...
I'm not inciting anything, I'm just asking which of the two games would be better to buy in my situation, if I wanted a flame war I would've asked about Halo/CoD or Starcraft 2/original Starcraft, which is not what I'm doing.

...You relize that Reach has nothing to do with the Halo series at all. The game was based years back before Halo 1, so why would playing any of the other Halos matter at all?

Yeah, that's precisely my problem, if I had a good computer I would buy starcraft 2 without thinking it twice.
