theres lots of double standards, hypocracy and stupidity in religion, but no one cares... world keeps on chuggin. some people need religion, the idea that youll be nothing but maggot lunch, when you die, and the idea that your existence is meaningless dosnt sit well with some people.

You don't even need to look at what proof is or isn't there. Just ask them if they'd be the same religion they are if they had been raised differently. If they say they would have converted, show them the statistics.

To be fair, I'm sure a lot of religious people that are at least older have just done it because it works for them. Besides, it's not just their parents that teach them that, it's the Church.

Me being a Christian I want to tell all of the rest of the Christians, somehow, that preaching fire and brimstone only scares people away, and, in some cases, causes people to act against God.

I would say that I relate most with the Scientific Christians of the world, my only difference being that I completely exclude certain parts of the scriptures from my beliefs, as they were written by mortal man.
God tells me, and dont ask how, certain things that I get my beliefs from. All you have to do to be Christian is to believe in God and that God had a son, Jesus, that is our savior. You dont have to burn everyone who believes different than you at the stake, or even judge other people, to be a Christian, or get into Heaven.

Amen, brother. I'm looking at all these guys who claim to be Christians, and then go say everyone who isn't like them will be sent to Hell. West Borough Baptist - perfect example of why some people think Christians are nuts. If self-proclaimed Christians actually lived by the Bible (just as it says, and not make some ridiculous interpretation), we'd be viewed a lot better than we are now. It's simple, recognize Jesus as the Lord and Savior, and apply his teachings to your life. I.E., being kind, giving to those in need. I don't see how someone can twist that into something like "God hates the USA" or "The end of the world is near" or other bull.

This guy claims to have seen God three parts (the trinity). We cannot necessarily prove this untrue.

Get real. How long are you going to listen to what some "magic" book says? There are better books. Books with more intelligent observation and actual tried and tested true material that is proven facts.

The reason that almost nobody has ever seen God in physical image form is because he rarely intervenes with events on this Earth. He wants to see how we do on our own without his intervention.

Where did you ever get an idea like that? Did God actually come to you and tell you that? Because I know that didn't happen. So a man or woman of flesh and blood must have told you. Why would you even buy something so obviously made up?

You're an idiot. Atheism and agnosticism aren't mutually exclusive, in the sense that atheism refers to lack of belief in deities. Most atheists I talked to are just that - they don't believe we can know anything for fact, the existence or God or even the existence of the things you see, but it's safe to live on the assumption that a God or gods don't exist simply as a matter of probability or logic.

Let me illustrate this to you. You don't know for fact that if you pick up a pencil and throw it it will fall on the ground. There could be a sudden massive hurricane. You could be in a dream, for all you know. But nonetheless you believe it will fall simply because the event is beyond a certain threshold of probability in your mind that makes it almost completely certain.

Gnostic atheists are morons, but they're few. Gnostic theists, however, are very many.
