Defeat the enormous mechanical beasts--and become one of them.

If you see the topic falling too low on the list I'd say some progress shots would be in order. Otherwise, surprises are cool

I guess as long as it is related to the theme it is ok. This is not a contest after all, but a fun activity.

I like your logic.
WIP...
Good that it doesn't give away too much info about the finished piece huh?

Looks really Disney's Herculesesque.

Good thing is, that it reminds both of you of something related to god.... :P
And I take both as compliments btw. Thanks a lot!

Lol I love the facial expression. Could use some more shading, doesn't it? I mean for example the pants or the abs.
And are those Dragon Balls? lol

Indeed, the monkey king created the dragon balls through his purple nurple training to make himself immortal.
Bump, this time with me considering shades and removing that glow thing on the balls.

Looks very cool already. You should do something to make the main character stand out though. Right now my eyes get drawn to the Dragon Balls cause they have a different tint.
I guess that has something to do with "balancing" and the likes, an issue of which I know little about. Maybe some of the others can give more precise hints. But my point stands, at the moment the main focus is on the Dragon Balls and the flood icon actually.
Friday Flood and stuff in 45 mins :O

Come post! The flood is not yet broken!
I wish your apologies. Had to rush mine last minute. I've been drawing non-stop in Photoshop for 3 days now due to school final project, I'm terribly sick of it.
A rather disgusting-looking git that should have been disposed of ages ago.
Hey ToaS any plans for the next floods theme? I'd suggest something related to summer or american independence day.
I kinda want to put a stop to the Flood, or at least rethink it.
- It's not flooding the portal,
- People aren't reviewing the pics, and mostly avoiding them, and
- It seems like a glorified way of showcasing off a thumbnail I made, when the emphasis should be on the art itself.
Some feedback for how FF is run would be grand.

I think this is the main problem, and it also happens to be the hardest to solve.
There are plenty of people who showed up for the tournaments and such, mostly due to promise of a cash prize.
Not to say that the friday flood should have prizes, that would fuck up the whole spirit of the event.
I have nothing to say that is at all relevant.
Give it a rest for a month or 2, pick it up again later. It is fun, but people lose motivation/interest when there's too many of anything.

I disagree: I think this:

Is the biggest problem... If everyone that drew something for the flood review all the other pics for the flood (and I mean really review, not just say you like it) poeple should be more inclined to join; thus solving problem 1 and 3 (A and C respectively)
Somehow the whole reviewing part never struck base with poeple. Personally I have to admit that I originally didnt know about it; once I did It made perfect sense to me and I started promoting it.
That said, if you were to give the floods a few month's rest to start anew with renewed interest it might be easier to stress the importance of reviewing.
Other than that I think you are doing a swell job with these floods; all art forum activities seem to lose interest after a while.
