I think it's a combination of both. Kids' senses of humor are changing, and we're just too old to laugh at anything they find funny.

But Regular Show and Adventure time are the best thing to happen to TV for a long time...

No, there has definitely been a drop in the quality of cartoons. They didn't used to be so patronizing and mindless, and the writing was better.

Actually, there is not such a big decrease in quality, it´s more the fact that you matured and obviously can´t like them as much as you could as child, also there are way more cartoons there now and not all of them can be good.

At least The Looney Tunes Show means there's still hope, but the rest of the shit they stick on CN is garbage, except for Tom and Jerry, The Looney Tunes Show, and the old looney tunes.

I don't think it's just the quality. It's the quanity too. Saturday mornings used to be solid cartoons from 8 til' noon on the 3 networks. Now there's maybe a dozen mixed in with educational shit (something i think the FCC mandated a long time ago).

That's not true.

Cartoons are still good. Cartoons are still being made that appeal to everybody, sometimes even mostly adults such as My Little Pony or Batman: Brave and the Bold. The problem is the people in charge of the networks. Anything that isn't live action or made in flash is deemed too expensive, and anything that doesn't appeal EXCLUSIVELY to little kids like Johnny Test is deemed too risky.

Why cartoons suck now? In the 80s and 90s cartoons they paid more attention to detail and storytelling. There was a cartoon renaissance that took place in the '80s and '90s. Most kids now use the internet- it's a different market.

Those are all '90s cartoons- I used to watch Darkwing Duck and Animaniacs.

I still watch Catillac Cats, and I used to watch C.O.P.S., Woody Woodpecker, Captain N, the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, and Rescue Rangers in the '80s.

Television died for me when reality TV was born. Same with MTV.

I used to think I just grew out of shows like Dragon Ball Z, so when DBZ Kai came on I ignored it for a while. Then I watched an episode, and it hit me, it's not that I grew out of it, it's that they stopped showing it. It's a fucking awesome show and would be awesome regardless of whether or not I had previously viewed it.

Shows from my childhood had witty and genuinely funny writing that appealed to kids for the slapstick and adults for the in-jokes and innuendo, instead of shows today that only appeal to little kids with dumb random humor with acid trip visuals.
