I recently found out that our local media broadcast company, MediaCorp stole the newgrounds tank and use it as mere clipart in their titlecard.
I'm both shocked and disgusted about this.

I've already email tom-fulp on this issue so I hope he does something to this. cause I dont want to see mediacorp get away with it by using some corporate logo as clipart

Tom's a pretty cool guy. He probably won't care or do anything unless they absolutely just used the logo and claimed it was their own etc. Then he would probably do something.

It may have been Tom who made the original, Jeff Bandelin (A.K.A Johnnyutah) remade the logo into the glorious husk it is today. The logo along with the websites name is copyrighted.

You are thinking trademark, which is separate from copyright. Just posting the Tank Logo on he internet as the mascot for Newgrounds, created a copyright claim. You must register the image as a logo for it to be a legally binding trademark. For all we know, they sent Tom a PM and asked to use the Tank image.

Seriously, that's pretty cheap and unoriginal of them. There really isn't anything Tom can do unless Singapore offers foreign copyright protection where he can file a complaint or seek compensation.

Okay, this thread is the first I have heard of this show. I still think the person responsible for creating that title card is a newgrounder and got permission. It seems like free advertising. We all know how much Tom loves advertising.

basically its almost as bad as using apple's apple icon to represent your apples or something.

What about a beer logo on a racecar? Surely you wouldn't think the racecar is a tasty beverage. As for newgrounds being a kids show, I happen to enjoy the children dancing and singing for my amusement here.

I wish there was some sort of international court system so that such egregious violations could be brought to justice. Unfortunately, no such system exists with regard to finances.
