I'm in Canada, so yeah... I'm all ears.
Note: age limits vary by state, but not by much and this will be the most common age limit
Okay, so I am 16 and so this means I can drive.
True. By Canadian law, as long as you are 16 and have a driver's license, you can sit behind the wheel but restricted to certain roads depending on the rank of your driver's license. For instance a G1 user can drive in parking lots and driveways, but can't go on roads or highways.
Though, if I were to DRIVE myself to the movies that still means that I wouldn't be able to see an R-rated film. So, they trust me to be in control of an automobile but they don't think I can handle an R-rated film? Yeah, that makes sense.
Apparently whoever made that limit thinks that 16-year-olds drive to the movies to watch Winnie the Pooh? ROFLMAO! I mean c'mon, what's the point of driving to the movies to see another childish film?
You have to be 19 to smoke in most places, but yet you can join the military at the age if 18. That means that they don't think you have enough sense not to smoke yourself to death... but you DO have enough brains to know you want a rifle in your hand. Yeah, that makes sense.
Well, they really don't recommend smoking, but somehow as I read this I picture generals with a cigarette sticking out of their mouth. But many people would prefer youth smoking rather than holding a rifle... but the difference between the two are very small... so generally people hate youth smoking and holding a rifle. That I would understand, but really.... I agree that holding a rifle in target practice (Not shooting people yet, junior!) is a LOT better than smoking.
Lets say you join the military when you are 18 and they send you on a two year leave, well you still can't have a beer when you get back to celebrate because you have to be 21 to drink in this country. Yeah, that makes sense.
That's sad... but really.... how much alcohol is in beer? For most beer, it's not a lot; beer is over 50% water, as I know. So why can't people just have a mug of that drink?
You have to be 17 years old to buy an M-rated game, so that means I still can't buy one without a parent present. But I can still FUCKING drive down to the mall and buy the damn thing. Yeah, that makes sense.
Drive down to the mall with your mom or dad in the backseat? That makes sense, but your parents can still drive, so why do you need to be behind the wheel? The world's insane, don't you think?
So, let us review shall we...
They trust me to drive around a 4,000 pound hunk of metal but they don't trust me to watch a film.
Watching a film is for all ages, so it's kinda stupid to stop a guy that can drive something that younger kids can't but they can't do something for all ages...... like is that fucking stupid?
I can drive now, but FIVE years from now I can have a beer.
I don't think they'd actually like you to drink and drive, but they don't let you show that you have responsibility because they think you are irresponsible one way or the other. Who even made these age limits up????
Driving seems like a bigger responsibility than drinking IMO.
True. Nothing more I can say.
Oh, you can join the military at the age of 18 but will only be able to drink and smoke YEARS later.
You can hold a rifle at 18, but you can't smoke until you're 19, and you can't even taste a little bit of beer until you're 21.
So apparently, I agree with you: American Age Limits are Retarded.
Prohibition was a good idea, just poorly enforced. I'd be willing to pay higher taxes to bring it back.

Same here. Also underage smokers are barely dealt with. Why do kids under 18 even smoke? They have better things they could be doing like actually being winners at something.
Also I have been watching horror movies since I was literally 5 with my father who introduced them to me long before I even began watch Sonic the Hedgehog or any cartoon on TV. I rarely watch horror movies now though since they use the same plot style over and over again and I don't care much about horror movies anyways.

It was poorly enforced yes but even if done right it would still cause more problems than it would solve.

You sure can't. It makes sense that they want to make it a point that it's not for kids and hate to break it to you, but that's what you are. 17's not much older but it is what it is. Deal.

Deal.

Wait...
I've had a couple of vodkas since the beginning of this thread, so I may be off a little.
You seriously think Video Game companies are the most unethical?
Cherish the moments you're still living as a young teenager and shut the fuck up.
Honestly being 18, 21, or whatver it is in your country, province or whatnot, it isn't great. So just calm the fuck down and enjoy the little time you still have before being sent out in the real life.
Seriously; all these things you can't do till a certain age? They're boring. They get boring REALLY quick when you realize you can't do a ton of other stuff you used to be able to as a teen or a kid.
They should left you drink before you are legally allowed to drive. Which one would you rather have? People that can drink but not drive or people that can drive but not drink. Actually, it is "Which is more sensible"?

Happens. But at least I don't need mommy or daddy to be with me when I want to buy Call of Duty.

I find your bitching and whining about lack of privileges pathetic.
WAAAAAAAAAAAH MY LIFE SUCKS, I CANT DO ANY OF THESE UNNECESSARY THINGS THAT MANY ADULTS DONT EVEN DO AT THE AGE OF 30.
Meanwhile, your parents pay the electric bill, put food in your stomach, clothes on your back, make sure your car is properly paid for and handled, etc. etc. etc.
The whiny musings of an annoying 16 year old.
War, war never changes.
the whole country is fucked with un-needed regulations and laws.
I say at age 16 you can get your driving permit and need it for 1 year before getting your actual drivers license. I would say make the driving age 17 years old (junior in high school). Theres way too many retarded kids out on the road. I would also make purchasing tobacco products 17 years old.
Make drinking, drafting, strip club, and pretty much everything else 19 years old (freshman in college)
Theres no need for all this 21 year old bullshit.
You wonder why america is so fucked? we baby our children, they get out into the real world, and then theyre like wtf? some kids are dependent on their parents well into their early to mid 20s.
I love how the law just assumes people under 21 can't get alcohol anyway.
As if they're actually doing anything effective...
The redesign happened, now my signature doesn't match anymore.

Those 19 year olds in High School will become the most popular people in the school.

it does make sense, you can buy something else. i understand that you and most of the population are braindamaged. various things in the enviroment have brought you here.. chemicals, procsessed foods, high sugar intake, electromagnetic radiation, radioactive particles, so why ask an ironic question
