There are FFFFFAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR more parties than the just the Tories, Libs, NDP and Green. To summarize the election in such a fashion is wholey ignorant of the entire thing.
The Bloc, despite not being a party that campaigns nationally, gains an astonishing number of votes in the federal election (also, more seats than the green party that, 3-5 elections now, have not gained a single seat, which is laughable considering independants such as the rhino party got more votes than a strong 'national' party)

I must admit I'd like to vote for Jack Layton. Gilles Duceppe doesn't know what he's doing and is just a creepy guy in general while Michael Ignatief can't make up his mind and lies to much about whether he's on Harper's side or not. Harper is great but our government has recently become very secretive with him in control. I'm just worried about Layton teaming with Ignattief or not.

Of all the things that upset me the most this election it is this one:
People who compare Stephen Harper to Qaddafi or Mummbarak, in a literal fashion.
Now, let me preface this a little, I am no bleeding heart Harper fanantic. But to compare a man who has now, three times, been elected by voters in a democratic process to men who either seized power via a coup d'etat, or followed in a line of succession from a government established by a coup (etc..etc), wantonly imprison, torture, or murder their citizens, is a complete disrespect to the people who live in those regions, to the people who suffered through their regimes.
You have always had the right to vote during your lifetime, and to create this comparison that you are somehow the revolutionary that is protecting democracy trods on the graves of those that fought for a right you often take for granted, or begrudge.

The problem is the reason why harper has won so often is because there's three liberal party's in Canada and only 1 conservative party which means Harper always wins a minority government.
I'm voting for the first time in 4 days , I'm thinking of going with the NDP I'm tired of Harpers be the bitch of U.S. bullshit.

I'm almost tempted to vote NDP, but they're total communists from my perspective. But the Liberal and Conservative parties are downright retarded. NDP's supposed to be raising taxes for high-end businesses and lower them for smaller businesses. Oh well, if it's not one idiot it's another.

meh; conservatives seem to be planning to strike down the long gun registry (win), and they haven't raised any objections to the decriminalization of pot that's supposed to be coming if no one appeals (win [unless they're just keeping quiet until after the election]).

What I find unbelievably patheic is the Conservative Parties raging against a possible coalition !
Why, do you ask ?
Well for those with incredibly short memories...the Conservative Party is actually a COALITION where the old Conservative & Reform Party merged !
Each & evey time i see the bullshit rhetoric & posturing by Harper on how terrible a coalition will be for Canadians.... My brain goes ... Yeah, you're right Harper...& you, you fucking hypocrit are leading a coalition party right now !
I'm personally in the corner of the ABC's
Anyone But Conservative party candidates. I hate hypocrits & liars, Harper is both.

I can't officially vote because I'm underage, but schools across Canada are holding votes of their own to see the outcome and today I voted for the NDP. Although I think Jack Layton's head isn't on straight, it looks less crooked than Stephen Harper's or Michael Ignatieff's. Even if my vote counted, I think any choice would be a bad choice at this point. Liberals just need to bring in Justin Trudeau already.

i was under the impression it was the others (can't remember if it was NDP or liberal) that were strongly against accepting a coalition during the debates. (?)
though most have presented a coalition as something to be avoided.

I lol'd today when my school passed out the slips for the student survey.
I had no clue there were marxist-leninist, communist and socialist parties running for candidate until today. How naive.

I believe it was Michael Ignatieff who just recently said a coalition with NDP isn't something he would completely disregard.

Fucking scientologists are putting their hand in the cookie jar, like always.
The Citizens Commission on Human Rights is Scientology's front organization that runs the 'Psychiatry, an industry of death' exhibits. And this article quoted one of their favorite writers, Alison Bass. Alison has a section devoted to her over at cchrint.org which is a scientology website.

Dude you way off there is one Liberal party (aka Center left) one Eco terrorist party (green party) , One Socialist party (NDP Middle left) and one party who's
one goal is to suppurate from Canada(lè Bloc Quebec)
but those left wing adds are starting to get to me not the ones on t.v the one that can't be confirmed true by desperate people who think Harper is pure evil you know they've been circling Facebook since they called the election
here i even blogged about it http://highschooldude.newgrounds.com/new s/post/587069

;;;
L O L
What is really funny, is every time we have a minority government (like we've had for the last 7 years....it has been a coalition !
You see, IMO that is actually better for us as Canadians than a Majority in Government !
THe Prime Minister, when he is in power & leading a Majority government can push anything his little heart desires on the people of Canada.
the PM can raise taxes to the max !
He can give his supporters huge raises, pass out political jobs to his cronies & friends & nothing can be done about it.
With a minority Government, the Government has to get the support of another Party, because if they don't get support nothing they want to pass in the house will get through.
So its give & take, they have to work together to come up with a solution that everyone can live with.
But no matter what you may want to colour the wording...it is a coalition, where more than 1 group work together.
So it is possible for one Party to have the most elected reps, but 2 other parties total elected reps could be higher than the leading party & they could form the Government.... I would love to see that happen & Harper get shut out this time !
THat would be the end of his political career ~:)

There's an interesting application on CBC.ca called Vote Compass which will tell you which party is closest to representing what you think is good for Canada.

I came really close to the green party , although I'm still voting NDP because they actually have a chance in hell of winning.

I did this in my Civics class and was very close to Liberal. NDP was a little ways away with Conservative way off. I think Green was somewhere in between that along with BLOC. I still prefer NDP to Liberal because I just hate Michael Ignatieff.

all the more reason to support a new proportional representation system. I want a system where we can vote for what ever party we want and know our vote wont be thrown out if a different MP wins.
and @ makeshift: you and me both brah :( although I was only voting for NDP at first because i didn't want Harper to have a majority.

I say Conservative is the best. I voted for them in the fake election at school because they rock. I used to like NDP, but I find that they're too weak to control the country.
