Hehe. I agree with that 100%.
People seem to default to anime style way too quickly. Not sure why, but maybe it is because they think they can forget about proportions, anatomy etc. and it will look good. It does not.
People that think manga is any way to "cheat" at drawing and practicing is dead wrong.
It is just like any other style. You still need to know the basics. If not, you are hopelessly lost. And that is why the majority of anime sucks. Mangaka have good art because they are professionals, not because they draw in a manga style.
When people don't realize that, they tend to bring a bad name towards the entire style, and is one major reason that people hate it so much. :/
Blah, all styles have bad things and good things. I know this is a joke thing and you probably don't actually think you're an awesome artist but your ideas on proportions and all aren't much better than the more generic anime art styles.
On a personal note, I draw in the anime style, I've been weaning off of it. But if art is judged based solely on it's realistic proportions then you have a problem. I think it's best to understand and be able to draw using those as a foundation but then do your own thing, if it's anime who cares?
Who is the hunter?
I don't really think it has anything to do with wether or not anime looks "simple".
There are good anime artists and bad ones, just like with every other style.
People just tend to draw what's in front of them and lately, most of it has been anime.
Kind of like how everyone probably drew like this back in the day:

I have no idea what you mean here. Are you saying my proportions are off? if they are, why don't you tell me which parts are off? How to fix them? Why they are off, instead of just giving me an extremely vague criticism

I have absolutely no idea what point you are trying to get across here, so I am going to try and cover this as best as I can. I never even discussed proportion in my comic (although I am in this one) I honestly think proportion takes a backseat to structure. I hardly ever judge art based on proportions, unless they're REALLY off. A talented artist can really stretch proportion, and still make a character look good.
As for the anime style some artists can really pull off the style (you included). I am making fun of the people who use the anime style and their art NEVER FUCKING IMPROVES EVEN AFTER YEARS OF DOING IT!
Lastly, the main focus of the comic was to not ridicule the anime style so much as to ridicule the things that I hat about people who put art on the internet. I think that artists should experiment with their style before just quitting and taking the easy way out. If you noticed I made a lot of parodies in that comic in panel 2 I am making fun of the smug artists who think that just because they have a DA account they're fucking Picasso. In the third panel I am making fun of the people who constantly whore out their DA accounts. In the fifth panel I am making fun of people who just use a 3/4th's pose for EVERYTHING THEY DRAW, and cram things so full of text that their characters are in danger of suffocation.
Also, new comic! someone please help me here, I cannot draw pectorals worth a shit.

You should reference muscles, those don't look convincing at all and are rather half-assed.
You should reference hands too while you're at it.
Kashi was pretty easy to understand.
You need proper notion of anatomy and proportions if you want to make any character look good, regardless of the style you choose to draw it with.

Considering the fact that I drew this in the time-span of 41/2 hours, yeah I would say I half-assed it. The point was to make the muscles look stupid bulbous and fake. I do like how you managed to not read any of my post and merely sum it up in a sentence which is evident of the last line of your post (we support the same argument). Lastly, yes I do need references, but I don't know where to start, do you have any suggestions? Or are going to continue being a giant douche?

This looks like you made it in 4.5 minutes, not 4.5 hours.

Hope this helps.

I really hope you're just trolling, 'cause to be honest, his muscles look quite good (definitely without references) and the 'unrealisticness' is on purpose. You're kind of a douchebag right now. But most trolls are.

I agree with Breaktroll, the muscles look good, it reminds me a little to GTO style. You should work a little on his hands, use your own hands as reference, I know drawing hands could be a pain in the ass but you can make it with a little practice (I have to practice a lot, too......)

You need to chill out, brah. I have made this handy reference guide to illustrate (lol) what some of your problems could be. Also, I think i might have found a few of your reference photos.

I used absolutely no reference photos. But thank you SO much for giving me these!
New one coming soon hopefully
I seriously think that no series has not done one of these things

I'm in college right now, so the last time I saw a small chest was back in my hometown

You're being ignorant, of course all girls have 36DD breasts, MINIMUM. Anything otherwise is nasty and a mistake.. This man knows his anatomy, and executes his prowess flawlessly. Otherwise he wouldn't make amazing comics about it.
I find these comics too pompous to be funny.
They take a self-important tone to point out obvious truths, passing them off as wit. The drawings themselves are far from flawless, which makes the whole point of "do this instead of that" similar to taking etiquette classes from your local hobo.
I would not mind these comics if they did not imply (even sarcastically) that the internet artistic community is doing it wrong.

This is intended, I wanted to try and make it seem like the character (me in the comic) thinks he is better than you. I find this a lot in the internet (and regular) artistic community. People try to flaunt their artworks off as something with a deep meaning when in reality they're just being pompous.
As for the art in the comic, I don't really draw like this, these are more just quick things I draw for fun. I never flaunted these comics as being perfect or drawings from the hand of God, I guess more effort couldn't hurt, but I just don't have that kind of time.
As for the obvious truth being wit, yeah I did that on purpose, some find it funny, but you don't. Oh well. :I

I am not implying that the whole community is doing it wrong, just certain parts of the community, that always seem to get the most attention that they do not deserve. I am tired of people trying to pass off things as "art," constantly whining and begging others to "Check out my DA page," and whining about how the art community wont conform to what they want.
