I'm not gonna dis Texas cuz I've never been there and there are some cool things about it, and it's more modernized and updated there than most states, as in their houses and roads and highways. I thought TX had a lot of humidity in some parts and not just dry heat. Cheap good land, true, don't know about butchers but I believe it; yeah I guess; yeah, sure; you could get that in a lot of places; mm yeah you got a point, you can get the best Mex in CA or TX; hmm, not really. I mean I hear Houston is really diverse, but if you compare it to California, it's not as diverse. I mean Texas does seem like a diverse state but it's not all that big.

Barbecue is a way of life in Texas. Houston has little to no diversity. Just a bunch of poor white folk eeking out existence coupled with large amounts of illegal mexicans. I'm talking Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio.
The only parts of Texas that are humid, are those that are right on the coast. Which is very little of the state compared to the rest of the state.

According to Wikipedia, Houston has a humid subtropical climate. Plus I knew people from there and they said it was very humid in the summer.
Also I've heard people say along with LA and NY, Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the US. It's supposed to have the largest Asian community in the south. A lot of links say Houston is diverse: http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en &q=houston+diversity&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&

Pro tip: Houston is right on the coast. Take a look.

You can also say that a class made up of 20 whites, 8 blacks, an indian and an asian is diverse, but really, it doesn't mean much.

Whoops, don't know my Texas geography too well. I knew it was somewhere out there.

Yeah I guess. But how so is Dallas or Austin more diverse than Houston?

No, but I imagine that it's better than L.A. It looks better. And NY seems cooler than CA.

Diversity isn't really in sheer numbers, but by ratios. Dallas has a greater ratio of people who are not black, white, or hispanic.

Florida.
I don't know why and I almost loathe to like it really. Just the kid in me that always wanted to visit Orlando, Floria for all the awesome theme parks. Plus they have The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Fuck the kid in me. The adult wants to see that!

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/cens us/profile/tx
Houston is 6% Asian
Dallas is 2.9% Asian
Austin is 6.3% Asian
So I guess Dallas isn't as diverse as Houston in terms of having an Asian population. Dallas and Houston both have black populations that are 23-25%, which isn't that much different. Also the Hispanic population for both cities is 42-44%. Again, not much difference.
Also Dallas has 2.6% mixed people, and Houston 3.3% mixed. Austin has 3.4% mixed.
The black population for Austin is 8% and Hispanic about a third, so less diverse than those two cities but larger proportion of Asians.
So I guess Houston is apparently more diverse according to the US census.
However, you may have seen more diversity in Dallas than Houston but according to those statistics Houston appears to be more diverse.

How so? I could say Hong Kong is a cooler city than LA, but I've never been to HK, though I will in June. I have been to LA for only one day and only certain parts of it so I guess that doesn't count either.
But yeah makes sense. NYC does seem to be more city-like than LA, and probably more fun and interesting. LA is just too sprawly but it has nice weather.

I don't see how it all needs to turn into an argument, like with the 'Worst State' thread.
Everyone has a different opinion on their likes and dislikes.
Can't we all just agree that the USA sucks in general and let it go? ;(

I'm not really arguing, or maybe I am. I'm just bored and about to go to bed. I'm not upset, just wanted to discuss our opinions on a state.

Long Island.
They know they're a state, even if nobody else does.
