This passed with a score of 2.36. A fucking FAKE-ASS PRELOADER that makes you sit and wait for nothing whatsoever for 20 goddamned minutes passed with a score of 2.36.

We are a loooooong way from accomplishing anything here, IMO.

Mission accomplished.

The whole reason I submitted that was to see whether or not it would pass judgment. I was pretty confident that it would, but I wasn't expecting it to come out with a score that high.

Interestingly, the first 70 votes or so came relatively quickly. When I checked back about three hours after submitting, I was surprised to still see the Flash under judgment. I guess the B/P fanatics were responsible for the initial voting flood, after which the more casual Portal-browsers were left to slowly continue the push to 200 votes.

Point proven. It looks like the blind voters got to it first and fell for it; they can shove their protect point up their asses for all I care.

It's the oldest trick in the book... Well, a lot of people fell for it. The fact remains that people voted up a text-based preloader, which blows my mind. What were they voting on? The green text? Or maybe the black screen?

I like the idea of Portal mods. I don't know how it would work. Maybe they could check the whistle flags while the flash is still under judgement, instead of having it go to administrative review and a month-long limbo.

I think there might be better solutions. Perhaps a no-vote script that makes it so you have to watch at the very least half of the flash before you can vote, while under judgement.

But I like the idea of Wade chopping 10,000 points off of one of the biggest culprits to send a message. I've earned my B/P points, and I've watched numerous great and crappy flashes to earn them. I haven't always been a fair voter, but I learned my lessons. Someone who judges a flash by the preloader and author's comments hasn't done so. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, but this course of action would get everyone's attention.

A lot of idiots vote 5 on submissions as soon as they see fancy PRELOADERS. :/

's called a collab. Artists get together and combine hours upon hours of manpower to create the images, then group it together under a nifty little theme and flash viewing segment. Art's way of encouraging productivity. Regular happening.

Doesn't work int he Portal. People love a final product. Just thought I better explain that for you.

As for the suggestions in this thread, loved them for the most part. I'll just continue to do my bit, to make Newgrounds Glorious Nationality on the Motherland of the Internet.

While the fact that it got blammed is good the score that it got blammed with is terrible. I mean what the hell are people doing in the portal? Oh wait I know they voted for the icon it had. Lucky for us enough people voted to blam it.

Excellent. I know my points are out of whack but someday my points will even out. Reason being because I'm sure there are going to be a few mass blam days in the future. It's happened before, why couldn't it happen again?

Agreed. Also anyone else getting tired of seeing people submitting "test" flashes to the portal almost every day? If they want to test out a flash they have the option of doing that in flash itself (Controls >> Test Movie), that's not what the portal is for.

And you're still just beyond the curve for the top 150 Blammers list :'(

I'll be doing an update later, so I can't wait for another 21 blams.

I was online when the submission was under judgement. Initially, it was a decent dress up game and I voted 2. About 150 views into the judgement, the author decided to swap files, that was why it was blammed with a score of 1.55.

I'm sure everyone is annoyed about this as much as you and I. Seeing the same exact flash with minor changes day after day or 5 second flashes gets pretty annoying. Tom incorporated NG Dump on your profile for a reason so I don't see why people don't use it more often.

Indeed. I think yesterday was the first time in months that I got 10 blam points.

Ah that explains. I couldn't believe people actually voted 2 or higher on something that is so obviously a crappy flash. The authors description already indicated it was bad and if you only took 5 seconds to watch it you would've noticed it was just a white screen.

Of course we know about it - we can't do anything, because we're BBS and Review Mods. None of the other flavours of moderator can do anything about it either, as they have no jurisdiction over the Flash Portal

Users like squf and Orangebeef keylog Newgrounds users for their high voting power, steal their accounts, and mass vote their flashes.

I actually doubt that's happening. Co-authored users on there are just probably people that don't care who they accept as co-authors, so just click away happily.

Now you've been wondering why they get all their flashes passed.

Proxies, numerous non-logged in accounts, getting the score past 2.00 when it ticks over 200 votes, crucially.

Feel free to PM Wade with your grievances - we will find a way to deal with all of this and it's not going to be pretty for them. For me, it will be like watching a sunset over the Lake District, while getting head.

These things happen. The main positive is that you didn't give in to temptation and you still used the 0, even though it were futile.

I just looked at the obituaries for today and it seems one of the cookie cutter game authors got his account deleted. Theres about 120 crappy generic games now wiped off the face of NG.

Is this a sign of change or am I just missing something? (Probably the latter)

A problem I do take into account, sadly, is that my laptop tends to refuse starting up quite some decent games. So if I were to vote 0, I might simply be tricked by my crappy system. Then again, I would just not vote in this case.

I saw that one was on the verge of death at some point (highlighted in red and all). Some people might have voted 5 in the last minute to allow it to pass judgment.

I think that TooCool100 has to take the blam for shitty entries passing the portal. Look at him, he has 123800 plus saves and only 93 blams. He averages about 60 points per day which means that he pretty much protects everything he sees with his massive VP.

If this has not been mentioned yet then all of the people in this threat are utterly stupid.

Restrict to 1 vote per flash #1
to ensure all new voting traffic goes towards the new flashes

and (this is essential)
design a script that makes it so the flash has to run its FULL duration before voting is unlocked

i suggested this simple solution many times to mods only to get ignored.

you don't want to take away stats, people would stop voting.
We want to keep statwhoring but make it PRODUCTIVE not distructive

using this method well get more competent, wise raters that want the stats just as bad as the crappy raters we have now.

I agree with you 100%. It's a shame that people feel it necessary to do things like zero bomb or vote based off of the author or authors comments. We need to stand together if we want to defeat the idiots on here that give us a bad name.

Same here even though it is barely even noticeable. :C

As for Dream-Of-Duke, you can use one user as a total scapegoat for why it all happens but you have to remember ALL THE LITTLE VOTES count as well. One user with a high Total VP can vote 0 and a bunch of newbies can come along and vote 5 to cancel it out.
