It's simple. With both versions of gun control (make no mistake both sides attempt to control the use of guns) you still have people selling guns illegally on the street.

In America, in order to legally own a gun, you have to first pass a background check (no felonies), then you have to purchase the weapon at a gunshop legally, then go through the process of getting a permit (perhaps not in that order either), and I believe the gun has to be registered somehow, like a car. Basically theres this serial number on the side of a gun.

In countries where gun ownership is illegal outside of the police and military, the only way you can get a gun is if you're an designated employee of the government.

So lets think about this, the people who probably want guns more in America are people with felonies on their record, but since they can't get it legally they simply find a guy who's selling them out of his car trunk. Same thing with the countries that don't allow it at all.

Your actually right, I do think we should legalize all drugs but that's a different conversation.

And border control will have about as much of effect as it does with drugs, which is little to none.

Also my reason why Europe doesn't need guns. It's not like crime rate drops significantly when moving to America. You'd guess that with everyone being able to protect himself, crime would be far less.

What's the point in taking away firearms from law abiding citizens to use in self-defense when the same law will not prevent criminals from obtaining them?

I would support regular citizens having guns, if they had classes on how to use them. Otherwise there really is no point.

Just throwing it out there, but most street dealers sell stolen guns from people who bought them legally.

A gun that was stolen when they broke into somebodies home. The people who buy the smuggled guns aren't your everyday crook, and they do not use them for the majority of crimes that will affect most people. If the only guns available were smuggled guns, you will not see everyday criminals being able to get them considering that smuggled guns are considerably more expensive then stolen.

What I was saying is that the way blacks were treated after slavery caused most of them to be very poor.

Because of segregation, they were all put in the same areas. This created areas of poverty and crime.
