Exactly what I was going to say.

MGS is one of my favourite games of all time and the whole Psycho Mantis fight probably would be my favourite gaming moment ever. It was pure class, from the genius of the controller switch, to the dialouge, to the music, to the setting. What a moment.

I'm always amazed by the little things Hideo put into the game to make it appear that he really is controlling your mind, like making the screen go black to make you think the channel had changed or commenting on the saves on your memory card.

I remember plaything that game when I was 14 and I was like OMG WHAT THE HELL?! I called my brothers into the room and we all were like THIS IS THE COOLEST SHIT EVER!

I always loved fights that are meant to effect the game / console itself it really makes it seem like its big and important and that something really bad is going on. I loved this and some others like .hack games that make the game go static when in a broken land for half a second with a colour change and sound like the game is broken which it portraits, and I know pyscho mantis isnt breaking the game but controlling your game instead and your tv etc, but it has the same feel to it. Theres also a game I recently found out about for the nes where you needed to reset the console when you came up to this broken area and it allowed you to go on more. Things like that really show that someone has put a lot of care into the game to really want to portrait what is happening in the game world rather than just allowing you to go on like nothings happening.

The mantis fight in MGS4 was a huge nostalgia moment, especially if you didnt look up a walkthrough listened to the codecs. Good times man, good times.
