skillgap in mathematical terms 2011-04-05 21:14:35 Reply

here is the equation im working on to calculate the average skill gap in any server on an fps game
keep in mind that this varies depending on which maps you play/ the people you

first variable
Number of matches till you immerge in the top 3 of the scoreboard
represented by (ntt3)

2nd variable
number of people populating server (pop)

3rd variable
difference between 2 average best and worst kd's (bw)

ntt3/pop+bw

please let me know how my equation holds up!
thanks!

Here's a simple equation to determine whether or not a given person is a complete nerd.

x + y

Where x = number of mathematical equations created to determine the skill gap in online FPS players, and y = the number of times said equation is posted on an online forum.

Note: Any result >0 is an answer in the affirmative.

okay umm...
any real feedback would be nice

here lets plug in some numbers

say your in a server with 4 people and it takes you exactly 24 matches to emerge at 2nd place in the scoreboard.

the average best k/d in the server is 9
the average worst? 4
(5)

24/4+5

11sg in the server your in.

try it with some games!

that's impossible...

and what do you mean by the "average"

you can't have the lowest k/d being any more than 1.00, and that's only in the case that EVERYONE has a 1.00 k/d.

illicit makes a damn good signature.

I don't need an equation to tell me that I'm awesome. I already know I'am. Apologies for not contributing properly.

Who's nerdier, the person interested in mathematical knowledge? Or the person who is using a form of mathematics to insult said person.

I'll go with #2.

So it would work for HL2: Deathmatch.
