Yeah, I thought it'd be a good idea to create a discussion thread in the Audio Forum for once.
So what do you like about making music, or rather, what keeps you from quitting music? Is it the satisfaction, the supportive reviews you get, the fact that you use music to express yourself, or what?
Personally I keep making music because keeping all that inspiration locked inside of me is terrible and I always love it when I manage to remember a music idea (which probably came in the most awkward of times like at school, in the shower, etc...), jot it down into FL Studio and turn it into one of my best songs at the time. That and Soundgoodizer is too amazing to leave alone.
Discuss.

I keep hoping to be able to make the kind of music I've always loved to listen to. If there are no more great songs out there that I can find and buy, I can always make one and there we go.
Not there yet, but maybe some day.

I like making music I like to listen to. I prefer listening to my stuff over "real" artists.

To be honest, I make songs for people. Ways to say things I want to without it being too cheesy, maybe? I think I only have 3 songs with lyrics posted on NG, but there's plenty more that I'll just never post, because they're for other people, not newgrounds. And as for my instrumental tracks, I guess that's just me honing my music making skills for when I make my next track with lyrics on it. I suppose it's also fun to hear people that download my songs and put it on their ipod. Or when I get reviews saying they were dancing to my tracks. That keeps me going too.

boredom now.
Sitting around with nothing else to do, I'll twiddle my vagina in FL studio and see what comes out of it. (Semen probably)

I started playing guitar to get chicks about 7 years ago, was in a few bands, ran out of musicians to jam with in my small town, started producing techno about 2 years ago I think.
I feel a sense of accomplishment when I make songs I enjoy, and others seem to sincerely enjoy.
And that's pretty hard since i'm out of school and unemployed =/
Also I've made about 60ish bucks online, and had my music in 2 360 indie titles=3
I'm not really good imo, but I'm proud of my small accomplishments, and I'm getting better.

I've been mashing my keyboard randomly and hope it sounds good. Whenever it does, I record it and submit it. :P

I will always enjoy making music as long there´s a chance i will improve. Everytime i come across a new genre i haven´t yet tried i get all excited. Even when there´s no new genre to try out, there will always be new approaches. Mixing styles and genres keeps me interested. I have always been one of those musicians that never stays on one place. But yes ofc i have my "comfort zones" like any other producers, but unlike many, i choose to move on.

Why I make music:
I use music as a medium to express how I feel at a particular moment in time, so when I go back and listen to the song, I can re-visit that moment in time. I share my music so others can feel the same feelings I did while creating that piece.
Do I enjoy it? Yes
Why? Its meditation, if I'm in a bad mood, I throw out some crazy beats throw some wobbles together and listen to the chaos, then I sort it out and let the chaos fade, at the same time, my anger has dissipated. Same with sadness.
That is why, I create music, and why I enjoy it.
:/ same with art and animation

I make music that makes subwoofers go crazy, causing people to instantly ejaculate. See it as an alternative way to masturbate.

Probably cause I'm always hoping I'll get somewhere with it, even though I know I won't.
