After seeing how many artists improve with these kinds of threads, I figured I'd make one, since I'm in dire need of critiques and general help. My previous thread got deleted because I didn't post enough art, so I'm gonna change that and practice as often as possible.

It seems like I have no real process of creating my art, I just draw a very rough sketch and slowly refine it with different methods. You'd think this would be an acceptable method, but it takes way too long and the results aren't even that great. This is why I need pointers and such to help me not suck.

The same goes for coloring. It always looks like shit.

So now I open this thread with a piece of line art. It took 3 hours to make.

Please don't make fun of me :(

A little sketch. For some reason it gave off a really creepy vibe when I was drawing it. That kinda vibe you get when you see a loner who used to be part of society, but after getting lost in a dangerous marsh during the war his mind slowly warps out of reality due to lack of communication with other beings capable of thought and now lives off the land while his mind is stuck in a deep void where nothing is obvious.

So yeah, there's a few things worth looking for in the sketch.

Also, I don't have a scanner so don't make any smart ass comments about the quality.

Yeah. He illustrated my favorite childhood book series and it looks really good even without color.

Oh hey, just thought I'd resurrect this thread with a WIP. If you have any advice, I'd appreciate it, since I don't really know where to go from here.

Here's some work I did for a client. There's definitely issues with the shadows, but he didn't seem to mind.

I got paid $4 :(
