3.79 / 5.00 3,779 ViewsOn January 1st, 2012 the following incandescent light bulbs will be phased out:
60 Watt
75 Watt
100 Watt
They will still be sold in stores until supplies run out.
Alternatives include:
-Compact fluorescent
-LED
-Halogen
-Industrial grade incandescent
Bulbs that will still be sold:
50 Watts and below
150 Watts and above
This will not be a ban on the use of older light bulbs, but rather a discontinuation of an older product.
Meh, newer ones are more efficient.
i haven't used a regular light bulb in a long time. i run 100 watt equivalent natural white fluorescents bitch.

Yeah I mean sure the guy who invented light bulbs was handy for light, but we've created that to a way more useful level with the flurescent bulb.
Good thing I use fluorescent light bulbs like every other intelligent person.

We used fluorescents in my house, but I really like using high-watt incandescent bulbs for lighting when I'm filming or doing photoshoots sometimes. I hope the types I use don't get discontinued.
A vagina is really just a hat for a penis.
I havent used normal light bulbs in years. So I dont see how this would affect me...

For all you people who converted to (compact) fluorescent: What do you do with the bulb/tube once it has burned out?
They do contain a small amount of mercury, which is toxic.

Yes, that is what people should be doing.
But how many actually take their bulbs/tubes to a drop off site instead of just simply throwing it out with the trash?
This is why I'm asking the people of NG.

oh. my bad, i misinterpreted your question. sorry.
but anyway, i usually take them to the local home improvement store and have them deal with it.
these new bulbs last quite a long time, so i've only had to do that once.
As long as I can still buy light bulbs of any sort, i don't care.

I haven't had to get rid of mine, which I've been using for some two years. Cutting down on energy consumption is nice, but these are really convenient.
Your opinion is wrong.

I have a problem with fluorescent light bulbs. You see, if you drop and break one of those things, you have to worry about the mercury that could be released, because, you know...Fluorescent light bulbs contain that.
Now, is it so unintelligent to use light bulbs that don't contain mercury?

Wait a minute, so what you're saying is these light bulbs will cease to be sold or produced, meaning most of them will just disappear, meaning that this will be valuable in the future, meaning it'll just be an artifact in a museum, meaning absolutely nothing? IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE SAYING?!
So, when I go to the store to buy lightbulbs and notice that some types aren't there anymore and have been replaced with just-as-effective alternatives which cost the same and provide me all of the same benefits, should I cry?
