What do we do?
This is a thread to help Voice Actors improve their skills as artists. If you're like me, Voice Acting is about getting better all the time. Wouldn't you rather get help from other Voice Actors than the regular Zero Bomber tell you that you're terrible? The help here could range from: useful tips and tricks, suggestions of certain equipment, to critiquing your Voice Acting Audio.
Who can join?
Don't let this guild scare you. You don't have to be a Voice Actor to join; you can simply be someone who wants to get into Voice Acting, or is interested in it.
In your first post give us a little bit of a bio. Tell us what got you into Voice Acting. What you hope to achieve? Or maybe some work you've already done. I want to get to know you. :P
Rules:
- Don't think you're the BEST voice actor here. It's very annoying.
- All comments must be constructive; we are here to improve.
- If someone is really bad, don't make fun of them, they are trying to learn.
- Don't get upset if someone tells you something that they think you should work on.
- Have tons of FUN! That's what it's all about. If you're not having fun, you should probably stop.
- Of course the regular BBS rules apply.
Now, who's ready to record? :P
^^ Ew. Bad closing line. Couldn't think of anything better. Hah. :]
Voice actor's advertisement thread
Newgrounds clubs and crews forum branch
Seems a little redundant to me...
None of those threads have anything to do with improving your Voice Acting abilities. I was directed by a mod that it would be better to post this here, rather than Clubs and Crew.
Done worry, I'm cleared.
I still don't see how this is any different than the Review Request Club
Or even the Audio Advertisement thread, where you post a new song (or voice acting clip) you've made and are proud of, in hopes for people to like and or critique it.
On a much lighter note, though, I cannot wait for your "VAG" award show!

Because it's not just regular people reviewing your work. It's Voice Actors review Voice Actors, did you not read my post?

Refer to my previous answer. It's about having a community of Voice Actors helping each other.

I was well aware of VAG before I posted. heh.
There actually was a "Newgrounds Voice Acting Club" thread like this for a few years. It eventually became its own forum.
Facebook.com/MacTheActor
Casting director, semi-retired from online voice acting. Sorry folks! You can still hear me in TOME, Reincarnation, and Wonders of the Universe!

Woah. I think my heart just skipped. Not to totally fan-out right now. But, I listen to all your stuff; I'm honored to talk to you. You're actually the reason I got into Voice Acting.
Anyways...That's a pretty cool forum actually. I'd still like to have a thread on Newgrounds for it. If this thread gets big enough I'd be happy to direct a lot of stuff towards that forum, as sort of a team work thing.
I believe I mentioned it before that I like the idea of this thread, and I would like to join and see if I can hone in my voice acting skills. While I do not have a microphone at the present time, I will eventually so I can begin uploading line requests from animators.

If you need help selecting mics/software just let us know, we'd be glad to make suggestions. :]
Theres also this, no different from the Voice Acting Club, but still, its there :)

The review-request club is what suits what this thread tries to do the best. So this won't happen as of now, I'm afraid.

Bah alright, let's give this thread the benefit of doubt a day or two because of V.A.G.

To be honest, it doesnt just show us how you improve, but there is also no place for us to specifically hunt out voice actors other than go through every single file in the portal. This is handy to see people who are active and voice acting on NG's.
I started a concluding part in an animation last year, and it failed because not one voice actor of the 6 who said they'd do it delivered any lines at all. With an area like this, not like the review request, its simply pure VO, and nothing else.
Im not much of a Voice Actor, and I think this is a superb idea.

Okay, everyone who is linking those is not helping. Everyone here is fully aware of those threads and this has nothing to do with them.
Shit...annoying as hell.

The point was he said there was nothing for voice actors...well, there are. Two threads even.
You can get critique from audio ads and review request club...you can see who else is involved with the two voice acting threads....dont really get why you dont understand that or think that voice acting is significant enough to deserve its own version of all of those when it already has more then any other audio category.

It is significant. Every good flash has voice actors in, I think that makes it significant. You guys don't get it. This is a place for Voice Actors to talk with Voice Actors, it's not requesting reviews, it's not audio critique it's learning from experienced people who are doing the same thing as you. It's a community.
This type of thread has been attempted numerous times...

Because people bash on it, like you're kind of doing right now. If you just have a positive attitude about it, it would work out pretty well. Nothing is every good when people just say bad things about it.

If memory serves, they failed because of lack of interest, not because people were bashing on it. It's the same reason we don't have a lot of different "Official threads" on various other things... because not enough people who use/do those various things to keep an official thread for it afloat.

Alright, whatever you say, would you not lock it though? Maybe it could pull through.

Not up to me... I'm not a BBS mod. I'm just telling you that your chances of such a thread going anywhere are slim to none.

I'm just glad the first page got ruined with nonsense. :P Great start. Haha.

No one here is saying it's a bad idea, or that you have bad ideas. We're saying it's not an original idea. No one's attacking you, or trying to get you to leave this forum. People are just trying to be informative that what you're trying to do can already be done with existing threads. Yes, there is not a specific thread for voice actors to just talk, but there IS the audio forum lounge thread, which can be the exact same thing where you and other VAG's can shoot the shit.
In the general BBS there is the stickam thread for NG stickam, and in stickam itself, there is almost always an "NG ART" room as well, however there's no need for two stickam topics. Nobody's trying to keep anyone from talking to or helping anyone trying to get critique on their voice acting. It's just that there are already designated areas for them.

Well, I think it's a pretty good idea, even though it's been done before. It's failed before, but maybe its just because many people didn't know about it or it just wasn't made correctly. I think it's cool because even though it's not an original idea, at least it is a specific place where voice actors here on NG can critique each other and give each other ideas and ways to improve. As such, I might as well start by talking about myself and join in on this :P
So basically, I started voice acting 2 or 3 years ago and have steadily worked myself up to becoming better and better at voice acting, and acting itself. I figured out many techniques and new ideas from many of the voice acting friends I have met over these few years. My basic goal is to get as experienced and to be as great of an actor as I can be, so that I may take on more professional projects in the future. I had an old account on here, named mariobros153 , but I recently changed it to be a little more professional here on newgrounds ( This is also why right now I only have one submission on this account). So thats a little bit about me and my goals as a voice actor.

Ahh...very refreshing to hear someone who is actually posting for the purpose of the club. I knew real voice actors would enjoy this.
Anyways. It's really cool to have someone that's been doing Voice Acting for years; I've only started a few months ago and I'm still getting my land legs. I am working on like 5 different projects right now, so I think I've started pretty well.
Question. What kind of mic do you use? Software?
This thread sounds awesome! ^.^
I've made a couple voice demos. Only one so far with my professional microphone. Here it is. (:
Click to listen.
I think I have room for a lot of improvement. And I would really like to get some parts in cartoons to get my name out there more onto newgrounds. :D
Come check me out!

I use a AT2020 condensor microphone and the software I use is Audacity :)
