As much as I appreciate Fat Mike's and all those band's effort to raise political awareness within the punk community, I never liked compilations. But there's like 50 bands on this one so is it that good?

A bunch on pseudo-punk bands playing songs that look like they were written by apes... apes that can't even rhyme and obviously trying to make a last attempt at being cool (I thought Ataris would give up after remaking the boys of summer). Yay..

The only good thing about it was that AFI isn't in it.

I never have cared for charity-type albums. I'm sometimes ok with songs with a message, but these types of albums has a forcefulness to it that makes the whole thing dorky and embarrassing to listen to. I don't care if I agree with the cause or not, the bottom line is the same.

I'm going to rip off your balls and make you watch a scooby doo marathon for that one!

Nevertheless, there's some pretty good bands on that album. A shame there's no decent record store in my town so I couldn't immediatly buy it today.

The difference is, AFI is a bunch of panzies who whine and complain and make overly dramatic music videos and write forced poetry to look sensitive. Alien Ant Farm is a band.

I'm suprised you didn't say anything about the Strokes. Keep in mind I haven't updated that in a year.

I already have that song on my DOA record.

Eh.... it depends on the record label though, Fat Wreck usually has a bunch of pop-punk bands in their compilation, that makes teh CrassClock bitter. >:\
Go-Kart records has some good ones though.

And for once i have to agree with Jim, AFI is a fucking horrible band.

This is precisely the reason why I don't really care about "messages" in music.

I just listen to it because I like the tune. If I wanted to become more politically "aware", I'd do something like.....read a newspaper, or search on the internet?

Oops. Musn't do work. Eek.

That's why a lot of band include linear notes in the CD booklet with information that explains their songs. (i.e. Anti-Flag, Propagandhi, NOFX, Crass, Conflict, etc.)

Riiiiiiiight. I suppose that musicians have good sources and are the best people for giving out raw, unbiased, and truthful information to the people. I think Shania Twain should be the boss of CNN, and Avril Lavenge should be in charge of newspaper content in Canada!

I like Blink. They r teh kewlnezz.

Seriously, what's so bad about them? They aren't the greatest band ever, but it's catchy music. More catchy than any NOFX song I've ever heard. They're like Green Day, it's a half-lie, but that doesn't mean the music sucks.

no!!! blink is just the same regurgitated sugar pop crap with whiny vocals and subar guitar skills. these guys are in their late twenties and they still sound like all those shitty highschool bands that go to the town hall for those stupid little no-talent shows, desperately seeking praise and glory, ever failing to appreciate the true art of music in place of the commercialized worship of our pop-culture gods!
and it's not catchy, it's just annoying. catchy is bad! catchy is like, cookie jingles.

at least i can't berate you for finding their lyrics high concept or "deep", i think if you said so i would spontaneaously combust. so, thankyou.

Sometimes that isn't so bad. To me, anyway. I like music I like, and I won't lie and say I've never liked a pop song.

=p I'm no fan, so no worries there, I agree. But the whole point is that I've found some of their music catchy.

and it's not catchy, it's just annoying. catchy is bad! catchy is like, cookie jingles.

Not to me. But I don't watch mtv or vh1 or listen the radio much. I've found internet radio & my own private playlist to work so much more efficiently. For example: You may like, love or hate 'Hey Ya' by outkast, but I like it and don't skip songs when it comes up, because I don't hear it every day. And I like some Pantera, but not all the time. Same with Blink or (and you've probably not heard of this one) Voodo Child.

at least i can't berate you for finding their lyrics high concept or "deep", i think if you said so i would spontaneaously combust. so, thankyou.

But, their lyrics are deep!
Just kidding =p

I hate all punk. I don't give a shit about how commericalized music is or if it "sold out" I just care about if it sounds good to me.
Punk music all sounds the same, horrible guitar playing with a whiny male vochalist singing about how the government sucks and middle class life in suburbia is so hard. Utter bullshit, if you ask me. Not to mention that it is considered SO DEEP AND KEWEL by legions of teenage angst machines. Half of whom only like the music because they want to fit into the "HOLY SHIT SO REBELLIOUS" stereotype that it's listeners usually are unjustly lumped into.
